Theme of the Week 215: As a child, what was your favorite book, and why?
By-The Ryan
I'm sure whatever book has been my favorite book has changed over time.
(PRE-SCHOOL AGE AND BELOW)
Book--I do know that when I was pre-kindergarten age (5 years old and below), my favorite book was Barney the Beagle (the one about him finding himself a "boy/aka--a home). There was apparently a whole series of books with that main character in them. I don't remember any of the other books in the series.
Why?--I have no idea why I liked it so well back then or remember it to this day. One theory is that it deals with finding a place in this world to call your own. We all search for such a place at one point or another in our lives. Back then, my life wasn't so stable either. It was beginning to be stable but it wasn't to that point. Maybe I was looking for my own little place in this world. Maybe not.
(ELEMENTARY SCHOOL/JR. HIGH SCHOOL)
Book-- The Silver Coach by C.S. Adler
Why?-- It was all about being able to be whisked away to wherever you wish to be by a "magic coach" souvenier. I was subconsciously dealing with things I was trying to also bury inside of me at that time. Maybe I just wanted to escape myself and how I was feeling subconsciously. The main character, although she was going through different things than I was at the time, was someone I could relate to in ways. I could relate to her pain. And no, I'm not referring to simple "growing pains"--which aren't all that simple by nature, if you think about it. I was going through some pretty harsh things. I don't feel like sharing them with all of you strangers though. I'm a private person by nature.
(NOWADAYS)
I couldn't honestly tell you which book I find to be my favorite or why. If I ever am able to however, all of you will be the first to know. Haha.
P.S.--I've been awake for 36 hours straight as of right now. It is 2:30am. I have church in the morning. I need to get to bed. Talk to all of you later.
