Who is the person in your life that has inspired you the most? Why have they inspired you?

My "person" is really 2 people who have been united as one through marriage. They have been married for over 50 years. They are my grandparents and they have inspired me more than anyone else. They have taught me so much about life and wisdom in situations. They taught me about discipline and hard work. They have instilled a sense of respect toward others...when respect is due to others. They have prayed over me and worried over me. They have been like parents to me since I was 5 years old. They showed me that some people are willing to take responsibility for others when it is necessary...out of love. They show me daily what it means to help and care for other people. I could go on and on...

To make my point come about quicker, they have taught me how to be a better person. I wouldn't be the person I am today without their influence. I love them and look up to them. No one can take away my "rock of gibraltars" away from my heart. I realize that they won't be around all my life but I will always treasure what years I have had with them and what years I have remaining.

My grandpa is my buddy. My grandma is becoming my confidant (in some situations). I will always be a "grandpa's brat" and "grandma's girl". I'm sure my grandma has called me a brat before too but it was probably meant in an other manner. Haha. It's a term of endearment with my grandpa.

My grandma, through experience, taught me how to cook and clean (and the bonding that occured through it all). Sure, home-ec classes in school taught me more about the cooking, but I did absorb some of the things that she did while making quality meals for my sister, grandpa, and myself. My grandpa taught me the value of believing in myself. My grandma taught me the lesson of standing up for myself when the need arises...it's from her I get my "spunky"genes. I get the ornery, smart-aleck sense of humor from both of them however (AND my dad's side of the family...haha, you can thank all of them for that "tidbit" of my character).

Like I've said, for good or bad, I wouldn't be who I am today without their influence.

I just wanted to do this theme because I wanted to showcase what wonderful grandparents I have...
When I have had a bad day, I tend to call them on the phone. Just hearing their voices over the telephone line makes me smile. It brings joy to an otherwise unjoyful day.
