I don't like my job. I may have said this in the past. If so, things really haven't changed much.
This is the last day of a "2-day" suspension which started early Thursday last week (do the math on a normal work-week).
This is the result of a show of force by the new-ish supervisor. Not saying that I didn't do anything - I won't bore you by falsifying my innocence - however, I do believe that suspension is outside the bounds of "fair" in this instance. Although, "fair" is whatever the rules say it is (if you include a healthy dose of "interpretation".)
Now, with the possible exception of the "without pay" clause, I'm of the opinion that this hurt them worse than it did me. I got a four day weekend over a reasonably big holiday. I got to spend some extra time with my wife. I didn't have to be at work on a Monday. I succeeded in completing a writing project I hadn't even thought of beginning yet.
They were short-handed, and I don't mean by just me. More than 50% of the department was gone.
So, as with all things, "Timing" is everything. This timing got me the better deal I think, and all I have to do is be careful about where my cash goes for a few weeks.
I totally need to be doing something else, though. I've been sick of this place for a while, and this suspension is an indicator. I've stopped caring. Oh well. Time for a new scene then.
