marathon completed. August 18th, 2013.

-age: 30 (1 week until my 31st birthday).
-weight: 76.2kg (167lbs)
-sugar free for 6 weeks.
-bread free for 3 weeks
Things I'm glad I did:
-Stop eating sugar. (not so sure about bread... I wasn't in keto or anything).
-I took Gels along the trip and ate them every 45-55 min.
-I drank electrolytes along the way every chance it was available.
-I sharpied/texta'd my arms with phrases (in both spanish and english) and had math problems... This kept me occupied for a while.
-practiced chin-tucks for a week, get dry-needled in my scaleines(sp?) and get a Chinese massage all leading up to the event. I was suffering from my arms going numb for a while---but I didn't have any of that happen today.
-carb-ed up on bananas, sweet potato and Kangaroo (LOVE!) the night before.
Things I wish I did:
-I put on Moth and "wait wait don't tell me" podcasts on my ipod. The moth was the most DEPRESSING SHIT EVER! Kids shooting each other in the face, having jail time.... nonono... I should have definitely screened that shit before putting it on my ipod. "Wait wait" was a re-run, too. Boo. I ended up just listening to music.
-Put vaseline on my feet and under my bra straps. (I chaffed something fierce!)
-Got one of those running belts (so I didn't store the gels in my sports-bra).
-got more sleep. (I always say this).
Things I should NOT have done:
-Any sort of workout on Friday. (I did 150 sit ups..... and that was a bad idea).
-taken a hot shower (I should have taken luke-warm or cold afterwards).
-eaten a lot of lollies (snakes) right afterwards. (I feel sick.....) |
