Hello, Goodbye

04/26/2009

So, I woke up yesterday morning, same time I always do, six am. tried to turn on the computer to get my daily dose of wow, since i never play in the evening, thanks to Derek, but oh no, the computer won't come on, and the yellow light comes on where the blue light's supposed to be. $40 just to have some guy look at it and tell us one of our fans is broke, but that this particular beast of a computer, being only three years old is already out of date, and the Dell company no longer makes this part, so we would have to special order it for, get this...$900.

Derek said screw it, and decided that we should just make a lovely upgrade to a computer with liquid cooling systems. Another beast of a computer, $3600 to have it our gamers way. I actually agree, sort of. Because I know at this moment, that we're going to upgrade to this new computer, with it's three year extended warranty, and then just at the end of those three years, when the warranty runs out, something is going to break and we're gonna have to do a "Here we a go again" scenario and make another upgrade because that computer will be outdated. I'm beginning to hate technology.

It's just been so frustrating, because here I am again, up at six in the morning, wishing I could play WoW, which Derek was supposed to install on this eight year old but still, surprisingly, running junk heap, last night while he was up. Needless to say, he did not. didn't even start it. Apparently, talking to his brother and telling him that he wants him to move in with us was that distracting. Not that I have a problem with his brother, I just have a problem with his brother's psycho-bitch girlfriend, who wouldn't be moving here, but I would fear of having to think about/talk about/deal with every other night.

We did the math, though, and if his brother did move in, that would be an extra person to help pay rent, which would greatly increase our chances of paying off a computer in the twelve months of no interest. It may end up being slightly unrealistic though, I'm afraid. There's so much time and effort that goes into a big thing like this, that I'm not even prepared to sit down and think about all the expenses that are going to change, not to mention he doesn't even have a job at the moment, and there's no guarantee that he'll be able to get a job in this shit-zone of a town.

I guess in reality, that I'm just frustrated. Why is it, when one thing breaks in a house, twenty other things have to go at the same time? Last week, our TV broke. This was a TV that I'd had since I was 11 years old. By the time I was 17, it was doing this thing where it would scratch out and go black and white and wouldn't let you shut it off from the power button. So you had to go around and unplug it from the outlet, wait five minutes, and then plug it back in. So, after it decided it didn't  want to come on at all, we bought a $350 hdtv, which is amazing, and I'm thankful for. But then our cable went out, and all the channels are just static fuzz. In calling the cable company and spending another $30 on them to come over to check it out, we found out our cables are out of date and it'll cost some big bucks for him to come in and drill another hole in the wall to fix it.

Then our Wii goes next, the controllers won't connect to the little sensor bar ontop of the TV, which was damaged in the packaging process. Our warranty covered that, thank God we payed the extra $30 to get that. But then our keyboard goes out. A, N, T, R, Capslock, Scroll Lock, and Space Bar stop working altogether. So, we go out, that's another $20 to replace. And all of this is in the span of a week, building up to the computer crapping out on us.

We must be so lucky...
