thursday night i was sitting on my bike just about ready to leave work. once i thought the bike was warmed up enough to go, i started going. i got about 40 or 50 yards and on the second turn, my back tire lost traction and started spinning (keep in mind it was 33 degrees and cold weather is not good to tires). all of a sudden, i was going backwards down the road, then i was sideways, then i was rolling on the ground behind my bike. i didnt have any thoughts when it happened, i just went to pure instinct and started reacting how i saw fit. though it wasnt enough, and i still crashed. my first thought when i stopped rolling was pretty much "what the fuck? you've got to be kidding me". i wasnt going very fast at all, only about 25mph. i didnt feel anything during the crash until i stood up and realized that my ankle might be broken. i walked back to work to use the phone, to soon find out that someone had called the cops. three squad cars, an SUV, and an ambulance showed up in no time. it was fucking crazy, where are these morons when you actually need them? ive heard of less cops taking much longer to show up to murder scenes. it was pretty ridiculous. that, and the cop that was pretty much interrogating me was an asshole. i was sitting on chair with my naked foot propped up. it was clearly swollen and clearly bleeding, and this dumbshit has the nerve to ask "so you just left the bike in the middle of the road and left?" i wanted to say "of course you fucking dumbass, i can hardly walk let alone lift and move a 475 pound bike, and im not going to just fucking sit there and cry about it until someone helps me." of course, i didnt say that, i just told him ya with a sort of dumbfounded expression on my face. fucking idiot. also, it was fairly clear that he didnt believe anything i was telling him. that doesnt really surprise me though. anyways, my ankle isnt broken, but it hurts like shit. my wrist is pretty sprained, my neck hurts. there are other parts of my body that hurt too, i just cant tell right now. so now i get the spend the winter fixing my bike, which i had work to do on it anyways so i guess it isnt too bad. i just wish i could still be riding. oh well, ill just have to wait until next year. |
