This is crazy! On the rare occasion my schedule allows me to sleep in (typically just 1 day a week), on that day, I seem to get up earlier than ever! I don't know why. I guess it is the body clock doing its thing. I mean, since I typically get up around 5:30am on weekdays, I guess that's why my body clock wants me to get up on the day I can sleep in.
What I don't get is why on the rare occasion I can sleep in, I wake up even earlier than on a normal day. For example, 5am. I can't seem to get back to sleep, either! I suppose it does have some advantages, for example I can write in my diary or get going with other tasks. So I suppose that's better than the opposite (sleeping as late as possible but not being able to get going easily). I had the latter situation one time with time zone changes, and based on that experience I'd far rather be an early bird, even with the disadvantage mentioned here, than a night owl. I mean, I can see that night owl works for some people (the night owls!) but not for me. So, I guess that our body clocks are what they are. While I'd prefer mine to somehow automatically sleep in on a day it can do so, I recognize that it's not likely to do that because that's just the way I am.
The good news is that I can usually nap in the weekend if I need to, and if I don't have a whole bunch of other stuff going on. I think I'll have to do that today....
