Last week was super busy and I got behind on my updates again. I’ll try to avoid getting TOO far behind, though…
I had to carry gun parts to North Georgia again last Tuesday, I left work in a steady rain and drove three and a half hours to Toccoa, GA to spend the night. The next morning was mostly clear, I carried the parts to the supplier to be processed and read my book in their waiting room for four hours. When the parts were finished I drove them back to work and got home around 6pm, it made for a very long day. I figured out that I was so tired because even though it was only a three and a half hour drive I had spent the previous four hours sitting on a hard, uncomfortable bench in their break room waiting on the parts so I was already stiff and tired before I even got in the car to drive home. For whatever reason I was tired and a bit grumpy for the rest of the week. I ended up falling asleep early Friday night, I was probably in bed by 11pm and up at 8:30 on Saturday morning.
I went to the range on Saturday morning, I wanted to practice with one of my guns and I wanted to try out another one that I had just mounted a reflex sight on. After I was done there I went home, cleaned out the closet in the guest bedroom and put several items out on the curb for pickup, then took a nap. After the nap I worked on model cars for a while and then watched the NASCAR race from Charlotte.
I slept late on Sunday, I don’t think I got out of bed until around noon. I grilled burgers as soon as I woke up then I prepped a model car body for paint and sat down to watch the IndyCar finale from Las Vegas on TV. After only 12 laps of that race there was a very ugly crash that stopped the race, within 15 minutes I had a pretty good idea the crash involved at least one fatality and I spent most of the afternoon glued to the laptop sharing info and memories with friends on the message forum for building scale models of racing cars that I help moderate. After they announced that the crash had indeed resulted in a fatality to the driver who had won this year’s Indy 500 and the drivers staged a tribute to the deceased driver I followed the lead of a couple of my friends and shut off the TV and computer for a while. One friend went for a walk, another went for a drive. I mixed up some paint, put on the respirator, and went to the garage to shoot some paint on model cars. We just needed to get away from it for a while. |
