It’s miserably hot today. The car I drive to work has an outside thermometer mounted up around one of the wheels about two feet off the ground. The pavement was so hot today that when I got in it to leave for lunch the outside thermometer read 117°! After driving a half mile and getting air moving around the sensor it dropped all the way down to a balmy 105°…
I don’t really have plans for the weekend, other than to not get out in the heat much. I might go see Harry Potter on Sunday, not sure yet. I have a couple of model car projects to work on that are mostly inside, that should keep me occupied. I went out to our shooting range at work around 9:30am and no one had turned on the ventilation system yet, the thermostat said it was 92° inside the range before the A/C kicked in. I set up the equipment to measure bullet velocity then came back later and fired a test sequence of 100 rounds through our .30 caliber sniper rifle to help the guys running the test. I’ll do more shooting this afternoon, I’m working on a muzzle attachment for a .338 Lapua Magnum long-range rifle. I’m glad that one will be fired from a mount, the .338 Lapua Magnum is a punishing round to fire from the shoulder. |
