We are a community diary, looking to add some members to our collab. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and would like to educate, spread awareness and have your voice heard, let us know.
Each week we will cover a different topic & each day a different loveandpride member will post an entry on that topic. It can be a text entry, a vlog (video blog) or even a voice recording.Ideally, we would like to have a member for each day of the week & have guest posters on the weekends.
That way if you cannot commit, you can still participate. the topic of the week, as well as some questions about that topic will be sent to the inbox of loveandpride by saturday night at the latest so the monday person has enough time to prepare.
If you're interested in joining the collab, please send a message to the inbox with your name, the day you would like to be posting on & any other comments about yourself or questions for Erin or I.
We look forward to hearing from you & getting this collab rolling.

Hmm, I'd be interested, but don't think I can commit to doing something every week - but count me in for a guest appearance! I'm trans, MtF.

I think there's usually a long version, that's something like LGBTQQA, with two Qs - queer and questioning, then the A for asexual.
At least, I have see it that way.

No, alas, the 'A' is apparently for 'allied'. The poor asexies are marginalised as always!

Oh, but I know there is one that includes asexuals. Maybe there's one with two As?
LGBTQQAA?

There's one with an "I", too, apparently. Intersex. Hmm.
But I understood "Queer" to imply anyone that was non-heterosexual and not-cisgendered. But it's been a while since I've properly "studied" this stuff.

I understood that too, but if Queer is the umbrella label, they should just get rid of all the other intitials, because they are all redundant!

Cisgendered is, basically, *NOT* transgendered.
Wikipedia can explain it better than I can, here.

an empty frame.

I propose we add an I for intersexed, F for fluid, another F for flexible (or H for hetero-flexible!) P for pansexual, E for evolving, ... Lol ;-) anyways, I'm in for sure.

I disagree, Estella, about getting rid of the other labels, I think they are important to create a sense of belonging in the community. Would you feel comfortable saying you're queer, as an asexual person? Would a heterosexual transgendered person feel comfortable saying they are queer? Anyway the community as a whole is so diverse there's no point attempting to simplify it because by its very nature it's anything but simple.

I meant they need to be got rid of if Queer is supposed to encompass and thus replace asexuality - like, it can encompass all the other things too! If asexuality is not mentioned because Queer already covers it, then take away Lesbian, Gay, and all the other stuff, because why should they be mentioned individually if other things are not? It gives them a false superiority, yo! But, if all the individual things are to be mentioned, then take Queer away. It's a tautology, yo!

But then, because the community is so diverse, you are never going to be able to name everything anyway, so the most comprehensive way to do it would be to make Queer the main label. Queer does include asexuality, and heterosexual transgendered people. It creates a hierarchy when some types of Queer are mentioned individually and others are not.

I'm bisexual but prefer to identify as queer just because of all the negative stereotypes that surround bisexuality.
*shrug* Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I thought "queer" was a pejorative term, but I haven't kept up with the jargon.
