This is why I don't think obesity & obesity-related illness should be covered unless there is some underlying issue CAUSING said obesity (other than stupidity, laziness and over eating).

Um, I'm sorry... there are a LOT of people that are genetically prone to being obese... I am one of them. I tried EVERYTHING to loose weight after I had my daughter, and I ended up having INSURANCE covered Lap-Band surgery in the end, and it's the ONLY reason I'm able to keep the weight off.
What this woman is doing is ridiculous, but not all obese people are just stupid, lazy, over-eaters. It's much more complicated and difficult than you think.

If genetics is causing your obesity then that would be an underlying issue. Read what I said before throwing a tanty. I never actually said that ALL obese people were stupid, lazy, over eaters. I am obese myself (with medical reasoning, not just because I like to eat), so I am not about to do say that so generally. NOR am I about to claim some kind of disability, which is the cover I am talking about.

The difference between you and this woman would be that you did something to make a change for the better. She is essentially eating to kill herself, and I do not see why ANYONE would do that, nor do I see why she deserves a) any kind of disability allowance/welfare/food stamps etc and now that you mention it, I don't think she'd deserve any kind of insurance EITHER.
