Here's my basic question - are you supposed to be able to "feel" tampons when you are wearing/using them?
I've been having my period for about 8 years now, and I don't normally use tampons. I have used them when I was younger, but I switched to pads about two years ago. But those make me, um, itchy. So I'm trying tampons again, and I don't think I'm doing it right! Maybe I'm using the wrong size? I feel so weird asking this, but I thought by now I'd be old enough to know how to use a tampon properly! |

I know you're not meant to be able to feel them. But I always can, which is why I don't use them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I've got the smallest size, and no matter what day I use them, I can always feel it. :( |
Sometimes I can feel them, too. Sometimes I don't angle it right and it goes in awkwardly and I can feel it. Pads make me itchy, too. I think its the material that irritates me. I usually only use pads but I've been using both lately. Which you just reminded me that I need to go pick up some supers! Thanks!

No, you shouldn't.

You shouldn't, maybe you're using the wrong size for your flow.

I don't know why you WOULDN'T feel it. I mean your vagina is a very sensitive area. I mean not to be crude here but do you not feel it when you are fingered? A tampon is about the width of a finger so it should feel similar to that. I guess what I'm saying is you should be able to know it's there but it shouldn't be uncomfortable. If it's uncomfortable you should go for a thinner one.

being fingered and using tampons are two different things. when you're aroused you have more blood flow and you're extra sensitive.
when i put a tampon in i don't orgasm. it's just sitting there.. - not moving back and forth. |
Makayla Post Count: 751 |
I guess I was using that example because it is about the same size as a finger & you are inserting it into your vagina. No matter if I'm aroused or not I can still feel things going up my va-jay jay. ;D

haha. i usually can unless it's something i just don't think about. i'm conscious about fingers and gyno tools but definitely not tampons. i hate thinking about tampons because i hate having a period. it disgusts me. :S lol

That I agree with you on. The only thing I liked about Seasonique birth control was I only got a period every 3 months, it made me a raging bitch though.

I feel them going in, or out, but once it's up there I don't really feel it.

when i started using tampons, it took me a while to get used to the feeling.

hmm, most tampons comes with directions, my mom showed me how (with her clothes on) but i know for a while i couldnt do it because it was too big, so i use OB reg without the plastic thingie/cardboard i know what it is called, but i really cannot think of the name right now lol
i didnt start wearing tampons till i was about 19 or so, before it was always pads, then i wore em 50 50 but now i dont wear pads... i havent since i was 21 or so. i feel werid with pads now like theres something there (because im so used to tampons) but my BC helping me having lighter periods i only wear them when its needed.. most of the time i dont leak. if the tampon is too big, you will know it would feel uncomforable, and u would feel its there. and it has happened that sometimes it might be put in "wrong" but i had maybe once or twice that happened i recommend pearls or OB i wouldnt recommend tampax i never tried pearls but it looksl ike its more comforable tampax is rough like but i havent used those kinds for years, they changed the OB's desgin and the more comfort fit as it says it actually does feel much better. after a lil while you will get used to the feeling of a tampon because its different and its new is prob why you feel it. |

I never have felt them. Generally if you feel them, they're an improper size, or they're not inserted far enough.

Basically, what Acid Fairy said. You aren't supposed to feel them, but I always do, and I always feel like they're about to come out, so that's why I never use them. In addition to the fact that I can't find one that fits "right" and I always end up leaking and having to wear a pad anyways, so why do double the time? lol

Someone's probably already said all of this lol, but I would suggest buying a smaller size or even a different brand. You aren't supposed to feel them, but they come in different sizes, so it's hard to tell. I prefer Tampax Pearl now, but regular Tampax is too long for me. You may not be putting it in far enough also, so try that? I found also that if I'm using the wrong absorbency, it can make you dry and then you can't get it in far enough. I hope that helps.

it just all be in your mind, too. i know when i started using them, i would constantly think about it and get freaked out, so i could feel it, ya know? but it could also be a number of things. try switching up or down a flow and see if it gets any better.

It's definitely not in my mind though. I can feel it, and I have to adjust the way I sit because it feels worse when I sit differently. I think that's because I'm using it wrong. Or my vagina is too small?
|
jodi Post Count: 300 |
if you feel it when you're sitting down it sounds like you're not putting it far up enough. i know if i misjudge and sit down after i put one in i can feel it.
maybe you could try OB tampons..they're smaller and are for all flows. |

you need to push it up further. If you can feel it, it just means its too low. Size shouldnt matter, i use "super plus" no matter what my flow is like =/
|
Lauren. Post Count: 885 |
Yeah, I use super all the time. I'm not buying 2 different boxes for 2 different sizes for different flows on different days.. super covers it, no matter what! lol.

i don't care what people say, i used the correct size [as i asked the chemist lol] and i can still feel it. i don't know how you don't feel something shove up your vagina. i use pads, but they shit me because they make me sweaty which in turn make me itchy. i've heard some of the reusable pads aren't as bad because the material is softer, but i've never tried them.
