Ok, I have an almost three-year-old daughter Kaidance! YAY! She's having a firehouse themed birthday party on the 15th of January....
My dilemma? Everything firetruck looking is so BOYISH. I still want a nice girly party....what do you guys suggest I use as plates, decorations, etc? |

Let me rephrase that - it is a firehouse party. It's goign to be held at a fire station. Should I just suck it up and buy everything red?

Red and yellow are fire-house colors, right? I think that would be a fine color scheme.
Is it going to be a problem with Kaidance if it's too boyish? Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about how it comes across --- she's young, nothing wrong with letting her have a "boyish" party. |

Hmmm... well you can tell her there are "firewomen", maybe find a kids video on firewomen, Ma had a video for Jeremiah.... I don't remember it because he's 6 now but the video looks like this http://www.amazon.com/All-About-Fire-Engines-Construction/dp/B0009X77GI ... I'm sure she wont have a problem, I don't think.... maybe take her to the fire station to meet firewomen? I don't know how they go about tours and stuff but I do know that when my EX threw me out I had no where to go, it was a mess I was 19 and well my parents reported me as a missing person even though it was less than 24 hours and I had nowhere to go so "I turned myself in" at the fire station and they called the sheriff and they took me home and did mediation with my parents and I, meanwhile at the fire station I got to go inside and see it and it looked like an apartment, they even had a whiteboard with menus and whose turn it was to cook pretty awesome. Hopefully if you call your local fire department they'll be nice enough to help you out? Sorry I'm a bit buzzed here, one more shot and I'll be drunk for sure lol.

Oh and the policeman who picked me up was totally understanding because he had a daughter my age and she had a boyfriend that he didn't like, so I wasn't scared, he explained his view to me about protecting his daughter and all of that.

Since her party is being held at the fire station, I don't think there's anything wrong with using girly decorations because the theme is still there. The kids will still see and learn about fire fighters, fire trucks, etc., and I don't think girly decorations will take away from that.
I think you should stick to a solid color, rather than picking a pattern/print. Maybe find a color that matches red, and use both of them! I think a pale purple and a bright red would look great together, and you'd still be sticking with the firehouse theme (red!) and keeping things girly! |

I really LOVE this idea and I think I'm going to take your suggestions! I think as well, my decor will be cheaper if I do plains colors rather than a pattern/print! Thank you!

Ask what kinds of decorations your daughter wants... and if she's down with 'boyish' decorations, just do it! It's not a big deal.

*ask your daughter what kinds of decorations she would like* is what I meant to write. It's late and I'm tired.
