I don't actually know a social worker IRL and I have to interview one for a class! I am going to post the questions here and I would LOVE for you to answer them!
1. What is your job description? 2. What is your educational background? 3. What do you see as advantages of the job? 4. What do you see as disadvantages of the job? 5. What things discourage you on the job? 6. What pulls you through discouraging times? 7. Is your job rewarding? 8. How does your job affect you personally? 9. What do you think are some personal traits needed for the job? 10. Are there any cases in which you succeeded or failed that you can discuss with me? What did you learn from this experience? 11. What advice would you give to those entering the field? 12. Do you think a person has to have had the same experience in order to understand the client? 13. What made you choose this field? 14. Do you see yourself doing this for the rest of your life? |

Hi,
I'm not a Social Worker I'm afraid, I do work in Social Care but as a Children's Home Manager so not quite what you are looking for although the questions are quite fitting. I know you are not from the UK but this website / forum is full of UK Social Workers so I'm sure if you signed up and posted your questions they would be happy to answer. http://www.communitycare.co.uk/carespace/forums/default.aspx |

I had to do this for a social work class too (I'm not a social worker but took a few related courses while I was in college), I just interviewed a social worker at the Department of Health and Human services, you could probably call your local equivalent and see if there is anyone there who would be willing to help you.
