I looked at my phone after I got out of the shower today. My boss (i despise her 75% of the time) requested me to be friends with her on Facebook. Has this ever happened to you? What did you do about it?

Just decline it. If you have your boss on your fb - they can look at EVERYTHING you do (including if you go on fb while at work!) and it can come back on you. Just don't do it.

id decline... when my co worker became boss, believe it or not i bumped her off... i mean... theres so much they can know... but then again theres alot who can maintain friends with the boss

If you dislike her, don't bother, because all it's going to do is create pointless drama somewhere down the line. Personally, my boss and my coworkers are all my facebook friends as well. I have nothing to hide from them, and I never do or say anything incriminating enough to put my job in jeopardy anyway. :p

My boss is on my FB. But I’m close to her, and tell her everything anyways, and hang out with her outside of work. I actually have my old boss on there too. If I do complain about my job in my status, I just hide her from it. However, I don’t have my manager on there because we’re not close . And I don’t really like her. Add her if you feel comfortable, other than that, block her. Ive blocked people on my own team before. Depends on who all you’re comfortable/friendly with.

I had a few bosses who I were close to as well that I let on my FB page.

I would decline. Nothing personal, but most of the time at a lot of companies (like mine) it's against the rules anyway. I've only ever had my managers on my facebook after they've left the company (or gone to a different store or something). :)

Ignore the friend request. I don't have anyone from my office on FB, not even the people I get along with outside the office. That's what Linkedin is for.

you can always add them to a restricted profile list so they can't see anything you post unless you make it public. i have some managers on my fb, but i'm not an idiot. i don't post things on there that would get me in trouble. not that i think my managers would give a crap anyway.

I was trying to figure out how to add people to a restricted profile list. I can't seem to figure it out. I have some people (not job related people) that I would like to block certain things.

privacy settings > blocked people and apps, click manage blocking > add friends to restricted list is the first thing on the list. hit edit list and it'll show you who's on the list. just search for your friends and add from there. i have a few condescending argumentative douches on there.

my mum doesn't have the heart to just ignore friend requests, but she never remembers where the settings are to put people on restricted, so i get a phone call and have to walk her through it heh.

It's bitten me in the ass to have a co-worker be on my Facebook before. Ever since that incident I've made it a rule never to add co-workers to my Facebook, at all. One little thing could make them upset at you and they could be vindictive enough to try and use your Facebook against you.

Needless to say I would NEVER add my boss to my Facebook. I think it's quite tacky and unprofessional of HER to add you in the first place. I would never add one of my employees on Facebook (or any social networking site!) unless we were actually close friends outside of work.

I agree! I just had an awkward situation last week when my boss wanted my Facebook info. She is a 50 yr old woman wholoves tattoos, and since I am a tattoo artist, she wanted to see my work. Also wasting company time to talk about my hobbies. I thought it was quite unprofessional. I didn't want to give it to her, but she looked really insulted so I did. She didn't friend request me, so that means she can spy undetected, which is even worse!

You could always make a fanpage - and give her that information instead.

Though in your situation, I'd go find HER page and block her. It won't tell her that you've blocked her... she simply won't be able to see your page anymore. ;D

I would only block your boss if you have no mutual friends. Otherwise, she may easily find out you've blocked her - if you happen to comment on (or even 'like') a mutual friend's status, she will see that someone has blocked her, because she will see that there is a like/comment that exists but which can't be seen by her. She could easily ask one of her friends who the person is that she can't see - or if your friend replies to you by name, she'll know that way.

Better to simply make your page FO.
