I know the beating is old news. But I just heard that Chris Brown and Rhianna are now saying that she threw the first punch. I disagree that if a woman puts there hands on a man that he shouldn't defend himself. But did she really deserve this beating?

Some people are saying that at the moment she put her hands on this man she opened herself up to get an ass-whooping. I just don't think that she deserved what she got. I mean he should have defended himself, but he really messed up her face.

Defending yourself and beating the shit out of someone are two completely different things. Typically speaking, men have more power behind their punches than a woman does. And a woman the size of Rihanna couldn't possibly have done anywhere NEAR as much damage as he did to her. If she DID throw the first punch, he is strong enough he could have grabbed her wrists and stopped her.

Besides, it's just conjecture at this point in time. There is no evidence that she threw the first punch, and no officials from either side are speaking up. Either way, she did not deserve to get the shit beat out of her like that. THAT^^^ goes FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND "defending yourself".

I completely agree with you! Whatever she did doesn't deserve that kind of beating. The only thing that I could think of that she might have done ito hurt him really bad is kick or punch him in the groan area. Men go crazy over that!

I'm sorry to say but with what you said, if he would have grabbed her wrists or what not, he could have also gotten in trouble for restraining her or hurting her wrists.
Its a no win-win situation.
He gets in trouble for beating her by punching her, or people over react and he gets in trouble for beating and restraining her by grabbing and holding tight to her wrists.

I'm perfectly well aware of that. HOWEVER, it still would have been better than beating the crap out of her like he did. There was NO REASON for beating her up like that.

It's sad that they are back together because he "loves" her. Heh. I know it's typical of an abusive relationship, but it still sucks.

I know. It's like women are brainwashed into thinking that they still love them. It's unusual that it's happening to such a strong independant successful woman like Rhianna. It usually happens to women who need a man for money, comfort, or security. I don't know why she is giving him a second chance to do this to her again.

I don't think it's right.
I mean, there's a large difference from defending yourself and beating the holy hell out of someone.
And he clearly crossed that line whether she threw the first punch or not.

But I also think she's ate up.
If a guy treats you like THAT, you need to get away from him, and fast.
But she "loves" him.
So what can you do?

I just hope that she hires some really big body guards to protect her from this, because it'll happen again.
You know it will.

Like people have already said, there is a difference between a man defending himself and beating the crap out a woman--like Chris Brown did to Rihanna. It pisses me off when I see people saying that she deserved it--no she didn't just get a slap, she got BEAT and I'm sure even if she was the one that did throw the first punch, he took it to the extreme.

I thought the whole thing was a big publicity stunt. Would only Kill Browns career as a Teeny Bopper singer... haha...

Yeah I still think it is.

doesn't he have a history of being a shit head anyway?

i slap my boyfriend on the arm as hard as i can muster sometimes when i'm super shitty, but if he clobbered my face in that badly for it i think people would go kill him. if a girl is going all out and a guy needs to defend himself, fine. but she threw just one punch, which obviously didn't do much damage. her face looks like the result of a really angry guy.

Exactly! Whenever I'm being really shitty and Josh keeps pushing my buttons, I slap/punch him as hard as I freaking can in the arm or leg. Usually he just laughs at me (which doesn't help the matter, by the way, lol), but if he came back and put me in head lock til I was losing consciousness, there'd be hell to pay (and not just from me).

If she punched him one then she deserved a punch back (maybe not to that extent).
However if she's stupid enough after all this publicity to go back to him, then she deserves what she gets.

Err, I don't think any guy is justified in beating up a girl simply because she has hit him.

But my real reason for replying to this thread is to say that I don't think you should have posted that picture of her face. Firstly, there is no warning that the picture in this thread, and secondly there is a lot of debate surrounding the publication of that photo and by showing the photo you are encouraging the invasion of privacy into victims of domestic abuse.

sorry i didn't think about the photo offending anybody before i posted it, i was just showing people the extent of the abuse, bc that could alter someone's opinion on the situation if they didn't know how badly he hurt her.

That's ok. At least you didn't post it with something along the lines of "OMGZ LUK @ HER FACE!!!!1!".

Was just saying.

Come on, really? Of all the things that's been posted on Bloop over the years, you find THAT picture graphic and need a WARNING? Come on.

Also, photo = evidence = public domain.

errr, I'm not saying that I need a warning, I'm just saying that it would've been nice! And it wasn't simply because of what it was a photo of, it was because there has been a lot of debate over what you state as "photo = evidence = public domain". Why should the public be allowed to access images of domestic abuse? It's an invasion of privacy on someone whose privacy has already been invaded enough.

Because the police had consent to use the photo as evidence.

What, so that means we all have a right to study photos of women [and men] who have been beaten up by people they trusted? Do you not think being beaten up is traumatic enough, without knowing that anyone could go and access photos of your wounds?

That's the most lameass reasoning ever.

That's not my reasoning, that's the law's. She submitted the photo to the police so it became evidence, which is public domain. It has nothing to do with my own personal opinions or logic.

well in that case I don't get why you were posting that at all! I know it's public domain. The whole point of the debates regarding this photo is that a lot of people don't think that evidence like this should be.
