I would like to ask if any of the Bloopies know where is Singapore.
If you know it do you know what races lives there and what is our official language?
I got a feeling that not many people knows about Singapore and thinks that we are somewhere in China.

Please do not google it if you are unsure. Just tell me how much do you know.
Thanks alot.

I've been to Singapore. Next to Malaysia, and near Indonesia.

I think English is the dominant language, but suspect Malay may be spoken too, and possibly other languages. In terms of religion I believe it is partly Christian and partly Muslim.

China.... lol. I don't think I've EVER thought Singapore was in China, not even before I'd been there.

Singapore is a 7-hour-ish flight from Australia. I don't know where it's near, but I do know that it's definitely not IN China. xD My guess is that it's somewhere on/near the Equator.

It's an island, and a city, and a country, all in one - is that correct to say?

*waves hand* oo ooo I know I know. There are four commonly used languges there... English, Mandrin, Malay and one other one. However Mandrin is the offical languge on record. Malay is the most commonly used.
China? wow someone's confused by that. Malaysia is the closest country to you, and next to that would be... Thailand? and indonesia

SOME OF YOU SPEAK SINGLISH, YO! AND YOU HAVE AN UNCANNY ABILITY TO ADOPT ACCENTS (OR SO THEY SAY, ON YOUTUBE COMMENTS - THE SINGAPORE FOLKS THERE). AND, AT LEAST BACK IN THE DAY, YOU USED TO REFER TO YOURSELVES AS 'PODS' OR SOMETHING - OR SO THE SINGAPOREANS ON OPEN DIARY TOLD ME. GOSH, I GET ALL MY INFO FROM SINGAPOREANS ONLINE, AS I'VE NEVER BEEN THERE, YO! THEY TELL ME SUCH STUFF. ESPECIALLY WHEN I WENT ON A DATE WITH A SINGAPORE GUY AND WROTE ABOUT IT ON MY ONLINE DIARY - GOSH, ALL THESE SINGAPOREANS TOLD ME LOADS ABOUT SINGAPORE CULTURE THEN!

I KNOW ROUGHLY WHERE THE SINGAPORE IS, WHEN I PLAY THOSE MAP GAMES WHERE YOU NAME THE COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD. BUT I FORGET WHICH COUNTRY IS WHICH, IN THE SAME WAY AS I DO WITH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, AFRICAN COUNTRIES, AMERICAN COUNTRIES, ETC. SO IT IS NOTHING PERSONAL TO SINGAPORE!

Southern Malaysia! Aussies LOVE Singapore! Well a lot do... a lot like to visit there. Never occurred to me that it was in China. China is in China!
I don't know much about what languages are spoken in Singapore, I won't lie. But I'd guess there is a lot of English spoken there because most people I've met from there speak at least some English.

Thanks for replying!

Singapore was right beside Malaysia, but we are not in the Southern Malaysia. We are in an island of our own. Our official language is English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. The Tamil, Chinese, Malay & a small number of Eurasians lives here. Singapore adopted the Britsh education system and everything in school are taught in English. In Singapore, we are required to learn English and one of our official language (depends on which race you are). "Singlish" is not an official language in our country tho. Singlish is somewhat like "broken English". Singlish doesn't have grammer and vocabulary rules. (And that is why I had a hard time trying to correct my own sentences :()

We are not partly Christian and partly Muslim. According the Wikipedia, Singapore, around 51% of resident Singaporeans (excluding significant numbers of visitors and migrant workers) practice Buddhism and Taoism. About 15%, mostly Chinese, Eurasians, and Indians, practice Christianity - a broad classification including Catholicism, Protestantism and other denominations. Muslims constitute 14%, of whom Malays account for the majority with a substantial number of Indian Muslims and Chinese Muslims. Smaller minorities practice Sikhism, Hinduism and others, according to the 2000 census.

The reason why I asked this was because I had alot of friends who aren't living in Singapore saying that us Chinese are from China. That's not true!

Well I was correct on the location. And only partly wrong on religion!

I think it's safe to say the lack of replies to your question means most people here haven't a clue where it is!

YO - SINGLISH IS A CREOLE! IT TOTALLY HAS GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY RULES - JUST NOT THE SAME AS ENGLISH! IT SOUNDS LIKE BAD ENGLISH IF YOU'RE ENGLISH, BUT IT IS TOTALLY A DIALECT IN ITSELF WITH ITS OWN RULES!

I'd love to visit Singapore, yo! We used to have some really nice Bloopers who lived in Singapore, called Amma and Lyss. I wonder whatever happened to them?

I can point you out on a map, and I know you mostly speak English, and Mandarin and Malay! And that National Service is still observed at 18 for males (I had some Singaporean friends when I worked in America who thought us Brits were all very sloppy and disorganised for not having been Armied up for 2 years!) And I know that chewing gum was illegal in Singapore until quite recently! Other than that my Singaporean knowledge dwindles. Heck, I'm going to read all about you right now! ;D

Oh yes you are right about the National Service thing! Chewing gum was still ban though. Unless you're talking about those nicotine gums!
