Some questions for my social studies class.

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was?
2) Who told you about sex first?
3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex?
4) How old were you when your friends started having sex?
5) Do you think you were old enough?
6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex?
7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important?
8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now?

1) No idea! Maybe like 6?

2) My best friend who was a year above me in school explained to me that to make babies you need to be in bed together... naked! ;D

3) Ooh quite old. I'd say 17 at least.

4) They were around the same age as me; 16/17.

5) I was 17 and yes.

6) I will do. I don't believe sex is something to be hidden and ashamed about. It would depend on how emotionally mature the child is though to determine what age they'd be when I told them.

7) I don't know; I never discussed it with mine when I was a 'child'. I knew everything before they even considered having 'the talk' ;D

8) I do with my mom. If I mention it around my dad he goes all funny. He forgets I'm 22 sometimes!!

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was?
10 or 11 maybe

2) Who told you about sex first?
my aunt who was a teenager at the time

3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex?
13-14

4) How old were you when your friends started having sex?
15-16

5) Do you think you were old enough?
nope!

6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex?
as soon as I believe she is ready, there is no set age. Early tho, no later than 13. But I tell her what her private areas are now at the age of 2. She might not totally understand it, but I don't want her not knowing that it is wrong for someone to touch her there as she gets older.

7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important?
Yes to a certain extent. You don't want to share too much, but you don't want to share too little. I say only give facts & scenerios, never divulge personal experiences with your child, that will just gross them out & make both of you uncomfortable.

8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now?
No I never had "the talk" with my mom. And still to this day at age 20 we have never spoken seriously about sex, we have just chalked it up as a joke.

1) I believe 7.
2) This guy named Randy. He was much older than me, and I didn't understand...I don't want to post what happened after that here....
3) 12 or 13 I would imagine.
4) I had a friend in 6th grade (she was 14 though) that got pregnant. I was 12.
5) I was 14. I'd say I was old enough, I mean, I was mature enough to handle it. The guy I lost it to ended up being a douche anyway.
6) I don't believe sex should be a taboo, but I think it depends on the child when it is age appropriate. I would tell my children about sex at their own time.
7) I didn't really care what my mom was talking about when she gave me the talk, but I was glad that she talked to me like an adult and still using terms that I understand.
8) Only to my mother. My father and I are close, but there are just some things you can't say.

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was? I honestly have no idea - but I was very young.
2) Who told you about sex first? No one, lol.
3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex? Probably like 11 or 12, can't remember.
4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? 15 I think
5) Do you think you were old enough? When I had sex? Yes.
6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex? I'm not sure when will be appropriate yet - but I intend to try and keep a very open relationship with my daughters. I want them to understand that they can come to me with things. And we WILL discuss how important protection is.
7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important? Yes.
8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now? My Mom. Not my dad, lol

1) We started learning about our 'changing body' around 9 years old. I didn't connect sex to the act though honestly until I was 12 though.
2) Probably friends or the health center we went to a few times beginning in elementary school.
3) By fifth grade (10 or 11 for me).
4) Depends on the friend. ;D But, starting around freshman year of high school. It may have been earlier. I'm not so sure. I don't keep tabs on when my friends spread their legs.
5) I don't think that THEY were old enough. I'm still a virgin (or well, for the most specific meaning of the concept).
6) When they hit their later elementary school years like I was, I suppose. I'm not going to be dishonest with them if they ask sooner than that, but once puberty hits I think they should get information from me and not their silly friends. (haha)
7) FOR THE LOVE OF BUTTER, YES. Suck it up and talk to them or they'll go elsewhere.
8) Only jokingly. Mom didn't give me the talk, which I think was a bit silly but I also had educational programs that gave me FACTS so I wasn't completely clueless.

1) Young... probably 6 or 7
2) I'm pretty sure it was my mother.
3) SERIOUSLY talking about it? High school.
4) My friends didn't start having sex 'til after high school. I was about 18.
5) I think they were OLD enough, but I didn't think the situation was right. One of my friends had only been seeing the guy for 3 months, and the other friend had only KNOWN the guy for about a month and had been dating him for a week, and she was drunk...
I think the age I'm at now, 21, is old enough for sex, at least for me.
6) Since I don't plan on having children, this doesn't apply. However, if I did, I suppose I'd answer questions with age-appropriate responses, and around 12 or so I would start talking to them in depth.
7) Yeah, otherwise mistakes happen. Schools are not so good about it.
8) If there was anything to talk about, I'd talk to my mom. I would NEVER THINK of talking to either my father or my step-father. This is not because they are male, but because of the strained relationships I have with them.

2) Who told you about sex first? The first person who introduced me to sex was my grandfather, but the first person who told me what it was and that it was wrong was my therapist.

4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? 16

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was? I have no idea! I know I was relatively young. Probably 8ish.
2) Who told you about sex first? My same aged female cousin learned about it from her older brother and told me. We were disgusted! Lol.
3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex? We didn't actually DISCUSS it until we started considering DOING it, so I'd say 16ish.
4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? Some friends had sex at a much earlier age than I did..anywhere from 13-18 years old. I lost my virginity at 16.
5) Do you think you were old enough? Yes and no. I don't think my age was off, but I thought I was more prepared for it than I actually was at the time.
6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex? Very early in life. I'd rather educate them as soon as they can understand rather than put if off.
7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important? Yes. Very.
8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now? Er.. no. I'm married, so I don't think she sees the need to remind me of safe sex practices, lol.

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was? Pretty young, around five or six.
2) Who told you about sex first? My parents.
3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex? We started talking about it around 11 or 12 years old.
4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? My friends were mostly having sex in the later teens, but I was 20 before I had sex.
5) Do you think you were old enough? Yes, emotionally and chronologically.
6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex? Early on, around the same age I was. I've been well-informed all my life, and sex isn't something kids need to learn about from other kids.
7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important? Very much so.
8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now? Yes. My parents have always been very open about answering questions, and even now, I can talk to my parents about sex. I don't usually choose to, but if I need to talk to them, I can.

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was?
Not sure.

2) Who told you about sex first?
Um. Also not sure. It wasn't my parents, I know that much.

3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex?
10ish.

4) How old were you when your friends started having sex?
15. I didn't til I was 16.

5) Do you think you were old enough?
Yeah!

6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex?
If I had a kid, I would tell them when they were old enough to ask seriously about it.

7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important?
Yeah. I know I was very sheltered as a child. I wouldn't want my kids to be the same way.

8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now?
Yeah. I'm 26. There'd be something wrong if I couldn't talk about that at this age. lol

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was? I'm not sure - I wasn't that old. I have a ton of older siblings and my first nephew was born when I was only 8, so probably around then.
2) Who told you about sex first? My brother. I was so sickened!
3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex? Gosh, we were young. Like 12?
4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? It depends on which friends. Some waited for a while, but I was the first in my "group" to actually have sex.
5) Do you think you were old enough? Heck no! I was only 14. The good thing is that I was prepared for what happened, we genuinely cared for each other, used protection, etc.
6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex? Yes! Probably from a very young age.
7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important? VERY much so!
8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now? I could if I wanted to... but I don't need to.

how old were you when you realized what sex was?
properly realised, i was 12. before then i had a vague idea from when i'd asked my parents years earlier.

who told you about sex first?
my parents, but i don't remember any of the conversation haha.

how old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex?
with my guy friends, 14. with my girl friends 18. my girl friends were kinda prudes. lol.

how old were you when your friends started having sex?
18.

do you think you were old enough?
yes, but i was willing to wait longer.

when do you intend telling your child about sex/when did you start telling your child about sex?
as soon as they ask, but if not i'll probably ask them at around 12 if they have any questions, like my parents did. though i ended up looking up sex on the internet [for practical reasons, not for porn], so it wouldn't surprise me if my kids will do the same.

do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important?
yes. i mean i don't mind the fact that they teach it in schools, but i don't know what the hell they'd be teaching them. i think i'd rather have myself cover all the basics.

do you talk about sex with your parents now?
yes, interestingly. not like constantly, but it comes up usually when we're watching some documentary lol

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was? Like 5ish my great grandma was a very open lady
2) Who told you about sex first? Great grandma
3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex? Like 14ish
4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? i was 16 when i first did some of my friends where sooner
5) Do you think you were old enough? Sure
6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex? I tend to when they come up and ask me and if not when i feel is right Kinda hard since there are no children in the picture
7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important? I think so since so many are having sex at a young age. If more parents make it seem like its better to wait than have sex so young
8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now? No since we aren't open like that. I mean when you hear them do you really wanna talk about it?

1) How old were you when you realized what sex was? Ooooo 23 at least! haha, Gosh I really don't know. I was aware that people got naked to make babies from the age of about 7... but I had no idea what actually went on until I was about 13. And even then I wasn't entirely sure that that could be real!

2) Who told you about sex first? Haha! I remember it well. It was a girl, Jenna. We were 9 and she'd just moved to London from Manchester. She was quite rough and chavvy. I think her family had just won some money on the lottery or something and decided to move South. She had heaps of older brothers and sisters and a weird accent. She asked me if I'd ever had sex, and I was all "NO!" So she started describing sex to me. She explained it as: "Two naked people rubbing themselves against each other." I think the image scarred me for life.

3) How old were you when you and your friends started talking about sex? Probably about 11/12. Not that we had a clue what we were talking about!

4) How old were you when your friends started having sex? About 13.

5) Do you think you were old enough? Definitely not!

6) When do you intend telling your child about sex/ When did you start telling your child about sex? When they ask. I'm pretty frank!

7) Do you think dialogue about sex between parents and children is important? No not at all. I've never had dialogue about it with my parents. It wouldn't have changed anything or benefited anyone if I had. It would have just made things more painfully embarrassing.

8) Do you talk about sex with your parents now? Hell no! That is sick and wrong.
