HAHA I'm from Stratford and was classed as a northerner when I was in Kent at uni... I swore I was a Midlander but they wouldn't have it. They all believe that the 'north' is anything above Watford Gap lmao.

Actually, I do have one. Is it true that restaurants or stores don't sell iced tea? I read in an anthropology book that, in America during the revolutionary war, if you were caught drinking hot tea you were "in trouble" because that meant that you supported the British Empire. Americans still had to have their tea, though, so they started making iced tea (though the first recipe found, that had been written down, was from much later). I had only eaten in a restaurant twice when in the UK, so I never noticed.

I've always wondered if that was true, though the book was actually quite old. And I don't know which part of the UK you're from so sorry if my question has little relevance. :P

Iced Tea isn't very common over here, sadly. I love it!! You will get the odd restaurant that serves it but it's rare :(

I've never seen Iced tea on a menu anywhere, here we have Lipton Ice tea which comes in a plastic bottle, so it isn't exactly something most people would be willing to pay for, to me thats a bit like going to a restaurant and asking for a panda pop.

the south has real iced tea-though specifically we call it just 'sweet tea' and you have to specify if you want it unsweetened. :-P

Ah, how I do love my sweet tea.. ;). If you order tea in a restaurant here in the South, you're getting sweet, iced tea unless you ask otherwise! :P
