I'm not sure he's actually done any movies where he uses his native Scottish accent anyway. So you've probably never heard him speak with it.
Scottish accents = Gerard Butler (when he's not in movies apparently), David Tennant, Ewan McGregor, Sean Connery (sort of), Ashley Jenson, Dougray Scott (despite putting on an awful English accent in Desperate Housewives!), James McAvoy Irish accents = Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Bono (and the rest of U2!) The southern Irish accent is very distinctive. They don't say 'th', they say 't', so 'three' comes out as 'tree'. I used to love that. ;D The northern Irish accent is softer and a bit more similar to the West of Scotland accent (which is why people on many occassion have thought I'm Irish :P), but it's not too similar to the east/north of Scotland accents. |

Sometimes people in southern Ireland mix things up as well like saying "where was you going when you come from there?" which is "where have you just been?"

Yes the Irish men in that movie are damned sexy! If all Irish men are like that, then I'm moving to Ireland!

British guys are so sexy to me (the accent & everything). Never had the chance to date one though. =(

British? As in English? Scottish? Welsh? All very different accents...

Makayla Post Count: 751 |
Well all of them sound different than the American accents I'm used too. ;) I guess I would say I like Scottish the best.

Good choice. ;)

Yes, I am. Although I don't like all Scottish accents. It depends where the person is from. I hate the really strong Glaswegian accent. Thankfully my accent is quite soft.

I hate my southern American accent. I never noticed how drawn out my words were until I moved to Florida & people would ask me to say certain words over & over. :P

Ok, so apparently we say quarter funny, too, because I just called a friend of mine from ohio and asked if I say quarter funny. her response was laughter. well damn. haha

I only knew this because I had started to correct my daughter - she kept giving me funny looks and informed me "but momma thats how YOU say it too"

Psht, embrace the accent! I used to hate mine, too, but most people find our deep South accents cute & charming :).
It does get annoying though. I used to work for a cabin rental business and I would ask people who were checking out if they liked their cabin and they always thought I asked if they LOCKED the cabin, lol. |
