Tara does exist, just later on in the books. There were slight differences in the first season, but not so much as there were last night with the first episode of season 2! TOTALLY disappointed. :(

Where does this Jessica person come in?? Because she's not in the books at all. I'm only on the 2nd book though...and Lafayette is dead, but he's not dead in the series. I guess that's a bit of a spoiler though.

Jessica isn't in the books at all; she's made up by the show. And yeah, Lafayette is dead in the books; he dies w/i like the 1st 10 pages. XD

Yeah, Lafayette dies in the first 10 pages of Book #2.

So, WHO is Jessica? LOL!! A NEW Vampire that Bill made?? Where'd she come from?

*shrug* They just made her up yo. Alan Ball was like, "hey, Bill should have a baby. Let's make her an annoying ass 17 year old. " XD

She's the meanad, and had a brief roll in the books (I dont remember which one), but I guess they needed something extra for the show?

I am on the 9th book, and I have to say I enjoy the books a lot more

She is the meanad who poisons Sookie in a message to Eric then? Okay... I don't recall her having a name in the books. That makes sense. I enjoy the books a lot more also. Watching the series gives faces to characters in a way, so that you can picture them when you're reading, but I like the way the books are better than the changes they're making in the series.

The voodoo lady (only in the show) "cured" Tara's mom of her alcoholism and s'posedly tried to cure Tara of her anger/hate but all she did was feed Tara a hallucinogenic drug peyote.

She got "cured" (the miss jennettea how ever u spell it that died at season2 thing). Was a scam cuz tara bumped into her at the store later in season 1 then before the store thingie she tried 2 convince tara that she had a demon 2 she manage 2 take like 1000 from them and another 1000 for the other excsiorsim

Yep, thats her. Her roll is entirely different in the show (and driving me nuts lol.) I dont think she had a name, I'd have to go back to look

I think roll wise the characters, minus Eric, appear they way I see them in the books.

All I really have to add to this conversation is this: Eric. Dying his hair. So Eric-like. Loved it.

I did, too, it's okay. I was watching it with my mom, and I was like, "omgmom,ericericeric!". She had to be less giddy, because my dad was watching it with us.

Yeah my friend Babz lives in the UK And she said that it's insane expensive for the latter books. She's visiting the States now and she said that she bought them here. XD

I was SO disappointed. It was ok, but I hated how much they strayed from the books. I spent the whole show telling my fiancee how off the show was from the book lol. I'll just keep watching in in hopes of seeing lots more Eric :)

as much as i love the books, i like the show even though they stray. like someone else said, i like not knowing what is going to happen.
and besides, eric is hot, i'd watch no matter how bad the show was! lol

I enjoy watching the series. Some of the differences I don't like, but it is interesting.

And yes - Eric is hot. Sam is hot. Jason is hot. Bill is hot. Lafayette is hot. Sookie is hot.

Whew! They did a fabulous job at casting.
