Does e-Harmony really work?

I was curious. I had to fake my age, as always, but yeah. I got immediately redirected to compatiblepartners.net. hahahaha. eHarmony doesn't handle the gays, it pushes them to another site. The main page says (c) eHarmony. But still, funny to me. ;D

My friend's mother told me her friend was on E Harmony and it was like the couple had been dating for years just on the first date. I certainly don't think they can always get a PERFECT match, but I'm sure they can give people a push in the right direction, I suppose. Of course, with the sweets come the sours and you won't always have the perfect couple every time. Even trained matchmakers make mistakes.

WHAT!? Why would you ever want to go to a friends party to meet someone, or meet someone at school or work when you can have the computer do it all for you!?

Get with the times man!

Personally I've rarely had any luck meeting men at parties/work, especially now that the majority of men who I work with are married. The last brief relationship I had (which was with someone who I worked with at the time) was 2 years ago. Some people need to look for alternative means of meeting people. :P

Fair enough Frag. I know that dating sites do work for some, but for me I just...I can't do it. I had a profile on like okcupid or something like that WAY back in the day but I never paid any attention to those who contacted me.

Also I just don't trust people. One minute I'm going to have coffee with some cute guy I met off the Internet and the next I'm in his basement being tortured or something. My fear definitely stems back from the girl that answered an ad on Craigslist for a nannying position (This happened close to where I reside). Poor girl goes to this house expecting a new mom needing some help and a 20 year old fucktard kills her and then stuffs her in her own trunk. This still remains the reason I don't meet people of the net! (With the exception of some of my longtime bloopies... I'd love to meet them. I'm also fairly certain they're not creepy dudes with comb-overs and pot bellies trying to get me to visit them ;)).

To each their own I guess!

It's never worked for me either. I was on match.com briefly and went on a couple of dates but there was no spark. And I didn't really have the time to dedicate to going on enough bad dates to find 'the one'. :P But I wouldn't rule out trying it again in the future when I have more time.

I'd never ever go to someone's house though. That's just stupid. Busy public places only, meeting someone from a paid website (i.e. one which stores credit card details of all it's members so anyone can be traced) and only after telling someone exactly where I'm going. Surely that's just common sense. :P

True true. People are still crazy though. I guess I could meet a serial killer or something even if I wasn't on a website... we're all screwed eh!?

I think work is the worst place to look for someone!

You can meet people anywhere, I'm sure you see attractive men on the street or when buying groceries etc. Walk up and talk to one. Don't go in thinking of picking up. Just say hi and start up a random conversation. Guys like confidence too.

Yeah, British people don't do that. If you go up to a random stranger here and start chatting to them you're generally thought to be a bit of a weirdo. Plus you're going up to someone based entirely on their looks... it actually makes far more sense to use online dating because then you can pick people based on looks AND their interests etc. You would probably have to go up to A LOT of random strangers to find 'the one'.

I've met previous boyfriends through friends, at parties etc who I've gotten chatting to, and then started to realise we have stuff in common, but as I get older, and more and more people are in relationships, those routes are starting to dry up!

I don't believe that, I guess I'd have to try it and see for myself, but I think I could do it, there are ways of walking up to someone without looking like a creep.
I dunno, I think socialising and meeting people is more natural than scrolling through pages of people who like "long walks on the beach" and "animals". I'm not judging, I can imagine it being fun and people do have successful relationships from it.

Going out and winging for my friend has been lots of fun, we talk to anyone, guys and girls, making friends for the night. Lol sure he hasn't picked up, but we're just starting out... and the feeling of walking into a place not knowing anyone and leaving a group conversation of total strangers is so great. It's fun, we get a good rush from it.
We are animals after all. We don't pick fleas off each other anymore though, we laugh , we flirt, we touch, we drink, we give each others numbers to catch up again another time. Whats best is that it's free.

My friend told me, if what you're doing isn't working.. then theres a reason. Time to try something new. That's how he got into the whole Mystery thing. Wish I could take you out with my mate to show you!! We'd have a blast!!

Going out at night is different. It's easy to talk to strangers in a bar (it's not the same as going up to someone in a supermarket!). I've met many guys on nights out... none of them have ever turned out to be boyfriend material. Every boyfriend I've ever had has been met through friends or through work.

It's not that what I'm doing 'isn't working'. I'm not looking at the moment. I don't have time to look. Most of my time is spent working or studying. On the rare occassion that I do have time to go out with my friends it's more important to me to catch up with the friends I haven't seen in ages than to go looking for a man. :P

It's easy to go on a night out and get a kiss and a phone number. I used to do that all the time. But it's not what I want anymore.

Thats cool, I didn't mean that you were looking and failing. Just mentioning how this whole Mystery thing started. It's been fun so far.
I've suddenly got that Pussycat dolls song stuck in my head "I don't need a man"...
A guy will rarely turn down a kiss or a number! Generally most guys in a club are out to get laid!! Thats why this M.M has steps of how to do the right thing by a girl after you get her number or a kiss, Attraction, Comfort, Seduction. Most guys go straight to seduction after they get a number or get a kiss. FAIL. Ah I could go on and on about this coz it could depend on the girl too. I'm going to sleep.
Reply to my emails you jerk lol. ;)

A while ago, match.com kept airing adverts over here about their 'amazing' personality test. Well, they went on about it so much that I took it... and it was the biggest pile of shit ever! And I had a totally creepy guy from it FIND MY FACEBOOK by putting my name into google, finding my Twitter, and then getting my Facebook. I was so weirded out.
