These women are beautiful and in no way plus sized! Plus size stores such as Catherine's or Lane Bryant (in the states) start at 14/16.

Gosh, this is confusing, yo. Like, in the UK, our smallest size is 6, which is really tiny. I've never seen an American this size. And the American sizing is supposed to be one below ours. So our size 6 is American size 4. But this does not work out in reality, yo. Like, when I was in Canada, I was English size 8, and I was wearing Canadian clothes that were size 2. So I have no idea what those sizes really mean. But in English sizes, that first girly looks like she's about a size 10. Which is supposedly American size 8, although from my experience in Canada, it could be lower. And so does the girly on the bottom left of the group pic. Like, they look the same size as me (although my tummy doesn't sag like that - I imagine that girly has lost weight and that is why it sags) and UK size 12 jeans (that is American size 10) are too big for me. So I do not believe all these girlies are size 10-18. Some are size 8. And none are size 18.

I have seriously never seen a 4. Possibly it's a new thing, because back when I was a skinny teenager, I could never even find clothes below size 8.

You can get a 4 at asda in the G21 section, I think topshop do them now again, I'm sure I've seen 4's on their website.

Gosh, yo - like, I don't think Asda even sold clothes back in the day when I was a size 4! And TopShop's smallest size was always 8 back then!

More places are selling a size four now, I remember when most places only went down to a size 8, it was so annoying, I couldn't get jeans to fit me unless I wore kids jeans!

i dont think "plus sizes" should be glorified. it's not healthy to be fat, just because the national average in the uk is a 16-18 doesnt make it ANYTHING to be proud of, as a nation we are obese. and that's not to say being a size 4, or 6 is healthy either. but it is clearly healthier in the long run to be slim, healthy, exercise and eat well.

But the point is these girls AREN'T obese. They're healthy. They're just not stick thin. I agree obesity shouldn't be celebrated because it is a serious health concern. But these girls aren't obese!

Well, this is true, but apparently the 'plus' sizes being talked about start at size 10 in UK sizes, which is hardly fat, yo.

I'm a UK size 16, but my boobs (which are MAHOOSIVE) means I have to buy an 18 in tops. Since I can NEVER get hold of clothes in these sizes, the ones on the rack are always 8, 10 and 22, I'm presuming I'm around average. BAH to the thin pressure.

Bravissimo is horribly, ridiculously overpriced. £40 for a bikini top???!! I found one in Debenhams that fit me great and it was £9.

I have the same problem with my bust. And I know it's not fat, because when I lose weight, unlike most women, it does not go off my chest, but off my tummy and face.
I hate it when people think that just because you were blessed with great boob genes that you're fat! Oh dear God!! Has nobody ever heard of Jayne Mansfield??

I used to have problems with finding posh dresses (especially strapless ones), but I have found that both Debenhams and Per Una in M&S have dresses that are in good proportions which means I don't have to go up a size just for it to cover my boobs!

I've always had big boobs, 36DD before I had my baby, 40G now. It's a pain because my stomach is the flattest it's been since I was about 16! I get tops from Wallis@Debenhams in an 18. The other problem I have is being VERY TALL (5ft 10) so I can't always get tops long enough to cover me up as much as I like.

Marilyn Monroe wasn't a modern size 16, the measurements have changed so much she was actually a size 10.

I looked her actual measurements up and she was 36-25-37. By comparison, mine are 38-30-38.
My mum used to tell me I was thinner than Marilyn to boost my confidence. Now my spirits are crushed, alas. :p
