From what you read? How do you know if there really is a heaven or hell? What you read is different from the actual facts. I agree, commiting suicide is the easy way out, but seriously, they were still human beings. No one is perfect. I think it's a little harsh for people to think this way. You have no idea what that person was going through when they decided to end their life.

Ahh, classic example of ignorance towards mental illness... I agree, commiting suicide is the easy way out
I've known people who committed suicide, and while yes, sometimes suicide is an impulsive (and perhaps selfish) act, it is often not the case, particularly when the person involved has suffered for a long time with a mental illness (depression, bipolar, schizophrenia). For them it is not the 'easy' way out... but the ONLY way out (from how they see it). Mental illness distorts how people view the world... they don't see it like you or I would, and they often cannot see any other way to end the pain. Furthermore, people often assume it's selfish, but actually it may be quite the opposite. One person who I know who killed herself had said on many occassions that her family would be better off without her, without the burden of caring for her and watching her suffer from her disease. I really believe that when she killed herself she thought she was doing it to help her family, as well as end her own suffering. |

NewMommy09 - I believe in my heart the worst thing any person or parent can experience is losing a child. The pain, for me, would be unbearable. It would take only God to stop me from wanting to die with them. I will be praying for your Aunt and Uncle. They deserve peace and closure!
I have a new prayer request. My daughter has been ill this week. Running high to low grade temps all week. Last night she took a turn for the worst and begin throwing up everything. This morning her temp was almost 103.00. The doctors want to see her right away. Please pray that she will recover from this and be healed completely soon. As a mom I always think the worst! And at her young age, you cannot mess with dehydration and high temperature. |

Of course! I know that here in our town a virual URI just went around that was very scary. It caused insanely high fevers that would come and go and a lingering cough once the fever is gone.
Lots of stories, popcicles and cool baths is what got us through it. |

I thought cool baths weren't recommended anymore. I'm not sure, just something I vaguely remember from working in paeds many years ago.

Not a cold bath... there's some kids bath salts made for colds, that cools the water down slowly so you start with a regular bath temp. It is also color coded so you dont get the water too cool.

One of our close family friends is waiting for new on his best friend since childhood. He's been missing now for a little over 2 weeks and at this point its assumed he's been murdered. My friend isnt worried so much about his best friend as he is - his friends little girls.
Also one of the sweetest ladies on our street who has really gone out of her way to make us feel welcomed here - was just told that the reason why she hasn't been able to get pregnant is due to cervical cancer... The testing is still on going to detirmine what stage etc... Both people have had more then their "fair" share of life's struggles. |

Oh, no. I am so sorry to hear that about your neighbor because I can't have kids for that same reason. I hope they caught it in an early stage though. I will be sending her many thoughts and positive energy.

My prayer request would be for Robert. He's my cousin's boyfriend. He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Tammy and Robert were told this the day Tammy found out she was pregnant. Also, for Robert's dad, is 57 and is suffering with stage 4 hepatitus, liver cancer, and cirrhosis (sp?) of the liver.
So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. |

I think this is a nice thread. Thanks, queen.
(I guess I see where both sides are coming for, and while my views on Heaven and Hell are completely different as I'm not a believer in biblical text, I never understood: How could a place be heaven if somebody you love wasn't there? I know it wouldn't be heaven for me if my mom wasn't there because she was a sinner, and I know the opposite is true.) |

I actually have one.
Our store was robbed Thursday night and the girl at work was almost raped. Please pray for her as she deals with the emotions of the aftermath of that and the safety of the girls working there because they haven't caught the guy who did it yet. |

I will be keeping this in my prayers! I worked for a Subway that was inside of a gas station and we were robbed twice in the same year! So I know the feelings of not being safe, etc. I will pray that she recover as quickly as possible - as it of course takes time.
