So let's say he IS a troll. Why give him what he wants? If you really want to argue a point, then argue your point without getting personal with him. That would make any internet troll freak the fuck out.

Haha, because I enjoy using him as a virtual punching bag? It's fun to rip on dipshits.
This is where we disagree - I think trolls are more concerned with getting called out for being a troll and going "damn, people saw through my trolling". Trolls feed on people replying to their posts with actual discussion and wasting their time. Referring to my example above, if someone said "Raping your kids is not a good thing to do. It's highly illegal and can cause emotional and physical damage to your children. I disagree with the raping of little kids and I feel that spanking is a much better form of discipline! But you can have your opinion. To each their own." I'd just burst out laughing. As I said before though, I don't actually mind you. No, I don't know you from somewhere. You just don't seem like an idiot, that's all. |

I might have to disagree. If you reply to a hardcore troll with a solid, backed-up argument, and are completely civil about it, and don't use any personal attacks or insults, and try to be as nice as possible about it, you're still going to get a typical trolly reply full of insults and 'that's your opinion and it's wrong and you're a demented fuck' type remarks.
Best thing to do is ignore. xD One could point out all the ridiculous flaws in arguments/logic (such as stating 'well that's just your opinion' and then stating their OWN opinion as fact, something I've observed frequently on this thread) but, oftentimes, one doesn't have the time or motivation to do that, especially when the troll is just saying stupid shit for kicks (thereby getting exactly what they want). |

To be fair, Tommy has made plenty of insults himself. I've repeatedly been told what horrible parents I have, and that I'm sick in the head! I really think you have to be respectful of others, to earn respect.
(You'll note that I haven't resorted to insulting him back. However, I can't blame others for wishing to do so) |

its true. anyone that can not teach a CHILD without hitting them, is a horrible parent. that is my opinion, a hypocrite one, some what. because i actually educated my self won teh issue. you have your mind made up, and will, not budge, or one thing is for sure. you will not admit any mistakes here on bloop. if i am wrong about this. please point out how you were wrong about something, and you apologized about it? your not perfect, you will make mistakes, as we all do. but are you man enough to admit that????????
I asked you question, for you to back up your cliams, you did not do it. but are quick to lie and say I didnt,m when sure in the hell did. so what's it going to be fraggle. you only ask people to do thing you yourself refuse to do? figures! |

There have been many occassions where I have had a change of opinion based on evidence. One example though is that I used to believe cannabis was a 'safe' drug, and even tried it on a couple of occassions myself when I was younger. However, a few years ago I was prompted by a job in psychiatry to research the issue further and discovered I was wrong and there are several big health risks with taking cannabis. I was completely unaware of the strong association with heavy use from a young age and the development of schizophrenia. These days I get attacked on here for presenting the evidence which shows these health risks ;) (Don't mistaken this for a change of subject. I am NOT going to be drawn into a discussion on cannabis here, as that is not the purpose of this thread)
I did back up my claims. I posted the New Zealand study which actually showed POSITIVE outcomes for children who had has the occassional smack. You just chose to ignore it. You're only interested in studies which agree with YOUR opinion. You posted ONE study. Posting multiple links of different people discussing the same study doesn't make it any more credible. I pointed out one flaw with the study (that it does not differentuate between the occassional smack as a last resort, and regular physical punishment). You started yelling "but one smack is just the same", yet you have NO evidence whatsoever to back up your claim that they are the same thing. That is just your opinion. And quite honestly, I'm going to believe the evidence, not some crazy person on the internet who can't use write proper sentences and who thinks if he's nasty and abusive enough, he'll be right. |

True or False: You didn't read that new zealand study until after this thread began. The one study I kept referring to, is one I learnt about when it first was made public. which was a couple of months ago. I didnt go go gadget google i'm in a debate and must search for something to fit this argument i just got into. And that study isn't just one study, it;s a look at 100 years worth of other studies. I forget the exact amount of studies that were used as a reference, but it was a lot, a 100 years worth. A broad larger picture. Then one study you found on the internet. Not a study that you said, damn, this will go perfect with my two yr old spanking video, and so you remixed the new study, in with your old anti-spanking video, tat mentions how spanking is unconstitutional. I clearly explained to you that it's not always the physical pain that MAY cause problems. That even just the slightest swat, which hurts far less than when a child just fell on the butt and did not cry, can cause emotional distress. why are you so concerned with how to punish a child, instead of getting to the root cause of why the child acts up. You still refuse to answer my questions to you. You are the pot calling the kettle black, everyone knows this. I dont mind it at all though. I have presented sound arguments that dispute you. Address the logic. Not the person. Name calling is fun sometimes, sure. but lets get back to the debate. I refuted you,and I posed questions. we all know what was said. lets move on now. It is your turn to answer my question, make an actual case. we all know we can pull links out of our arses. I'm perfectly able to debate using my own reasoning, and actual life experiences on this very topic. what you see as nasty and abusive, lol i see as comedy. i realize that everyone has the same sense of humor, and perhaps many dont get me. this is like a boxing match, bring your best fight to te ring, when all is said and done, shake hands and congratulate each other for a well played game, or a not so well played game. good game *slaps you on the ass* LMAO meetcha in the next round, and so on........... I dont mind the debates, drama or no |

I asked her questions.
They came from outside of the box. a place you might want to visit someday. when asking a question, you dont know the answer, one takes a few pot shots at a possible answer, but i ended with a please do tell. bec I dont know. she chose not to say anything. ask yourself why? again i dont know, only she does. my GUESS what would be that something hit home. but i do not know. it; s called a question, you do understand what that means, do I have your permission to spank you to help teach you, bec you sure dont get it. I better last resort myself to smacking you,lol |

The TL; DR version is this... Spankin' is bad.... mmmmmmmk. Spankin' is good... mmmmmmmmk. |

It depends on the spanking, really. I mean if your really thwacking the shit out of the poor kid's bottom then that's no good, then it's abuse. but usually...all it takes is one, one good bat with your hand on their butt and they know that's not a good thing and they will try to avoid getting them in the future. What i dont agree with? Time Out. THAT DOES NOTHING!! Here little johnny go sit in the corner for five minutes, because you've been bad, but once that five minutes is up, feel free to go run around and play with your toys! That's the worst parental punishment i can possibly think of. One good swat to the kid's butt and he or she will shut up and listen pretty quick.

It depends on the kid, time out was the only thing that worked for me, I used to have to sit in the hallway, at first I would scream my head off and kick the wall, but pretty quick I realised I had to sit and be good and quiet for a few minutes before I was allowed back in the room with everyone else. Oddly enough we used the same method on our dog....

Oh Lord. o_o
You know, removing yourself from a child's presence is damaging if the personality type and dependency needs of the child are just right. What if that child needs you there? Then you have children going "Mommy and Daddy would just up and leave. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO ME?" or something along that line. Red hasn't said anything wrong. She can't dictate how she'll react to a child that isn't here yet. A light smack is more of a sign that you did something wrong. It's a hiccup in their day that forces them to pause, notice that what they're doing is unappreciated and then hopefully they will stop said action. So to carry on like she's plotting to have a dungeon as a basement to 'discipline' her children is not needed. You don't think hitting is right. That's fine. She isn't PLANNING to smack the child. But she leaves the option open depending on the unknown course of events. I doubt a few light smacks is going to hurt her future babes. She seems like a very reasonable person. |

all i have to say is has everyone in this thread tried to reason with a 2 or 5 year old and after 10 mins of talking really think they remember what the hell you were trying to itexplain to them???? one spanking for doing something and they will remember that they did something wrong. i spank my children....and there is a line, in my opinion if your child flinches when you go to hit them then you have crossed the line.
