i went about 2 years ago with my parents. i pretty much tagged along, so i didn't do any planning, but i remember they got a lot of travel books (i think Forbes was a good one) in the books they have lots of cool tips. like when we saw Versailles we got tickets at a little store on the way there (i think it was like a cust service type place) we then got to skip the hour long line most tourists had to wait in.

oya, granted i didn't have to worry about the hotel fee, but i didn't spend anywhere near $300 a day. prob more like $150. we usually ate a little cafes, and we went to the grocery store and got food and snacks there. the most i spent in one day was prob close to $300, but that's bc i bought smashing pumpkns tickets on the street.
we stayed for 6 days, and i needed another vacation by the time we got back! there is SO much to do in paris, we were busy from the time we woke up to the time we went to sleep, and there are still things we didn't get to do. |

lol, last post i promise!
a lot of people always say how the french are rude, but i didn't mean any rude people when i was there. as long as you attempt to speak their language, even if it's "vous parle anglais?" (sorry about the spelling) they don't seem to have a problem. i think it's more of the americans who go over their expecting everyone to accomidate to them and their language, instead of realizing that we are in their country and should be considerate. |

I've always wanted to learn the french language; so maybe I could invest in a private tutor a couple of times a month? I took french for three years throughout middle school but only remember a few songs and phrases. I would love to be able to talk generally when I go over there!

i took french in highschool, and two semesters in college. but i suck so bad at learning a foriegn language. all i could do was congegate verbs, which really, who wants to listen to some one say je parle, tu parle, vous parlez etc.
i know schools around me always have like continue adult ed, you could prob take a night class and it would be way cheaper than a prive tutor. unless of course, you want to speak fluently! |
