OKay so my Norton is about to run out and i need something that better protects. So what do you use for a PC and would you recommend it to someone else?

AVG. It's free and it does its job, so yes.

I agree AVG has worked really well for me for about 9 months & I've had no problems. Best thing is it's free.

I use avast. It's free as well and works very nicely. My boyfriend tends to pick up trojans and it's caught every single one of them.

The "don't go on websites that you don't trust" anti-virus. No download necessary. 100% foolproof.
But if you must, AVG. |

But in all honesty, I think I just got my e-mail phished, I never had a virus or trojan on here.

Hella yea! My main system is Debian Linux... but I keep a drive partition with Windows on it for gaming. I don't even use a web browser with Windows, but better safe than sorry. Deepy embedded trojans or keyloggers can be a nightmare. I find it amazing that some people do not use anything! :-o

My main is Ubuntu. I recently wiped out Windows completely and run the games in Wine, which seems to work pretty well (even for World of Warcraft!). My boyfriend convinced me to install Virtual Box with XP in it, but I never use it :-/

I might try this AVG deal. I currently use McAfee.

Looks like they have improved AVG Free quite a bit over the last few years. Seems pretty good.

I use nothing,I've had my computer for 4 years and not gotten a single virus,trojan..or whatever else is out there. I just don't go anywhere I don't trust or seems fishy.

Wow, your pretty brave. You can get viruses other ways than visiting sites. They come in e-mails too.
|
saminal Post Count: 28 |
You do realise that you could have hundreds of viruses and not know about it, because you don't have anything checking? Not all malware is obvious.

We use McAfee for our computer.

Ooh I used to have that; it's a system hog.

I have a mac, I don't have an anti virus, when I use my mac at uni the system does an automatic virus search before I'm allowed to connect to the network, so far it hasn't detected anything. Saying that though, I only open emails from friends, don't visit weird sites and I don't download things other than my lecture slides anymore either.

I used to have McAfee because it came with my computer but I found it to be crap. I got a virus once & whenever I would try to do a scan the scan would freeze when it got to the file that was infected. I then tried avg free & it got rid of it first try. I now use kaspersky.
