It doesn't hurt.
I got Implanon after I had my baby.
But i've been having MAJOR complications with it.
As have most people I know who got it.
So I still don't recommend it to anyone.

I agree 100%. About a year and a half ago my mother was in the hospital for an illness. She was next to a woman who had just gotten a surgery a few days prior. They began to talk and my mother found out that she was there to get an IUD removed that had got infected and began to rot inside of her. The poor woman had to have a hysterectomy and can know longer have children!

I'd never get an inserted birth control anyway, but this story just confirmed why! (And I've had other close friends that have gotten them removed because they had so much pain from them!)

Oh, yes, there are tons of risks that come with IUD's, including them dislodging and moving up into the abdominal cavity and having to be surgically removed! Sadly, this happens quite often. Or at least, it does at the hospital I work at. I'm not sure if that just says something bad about the gyno's we have or the IUD in general, lol.

when i was doing sex ed at 16 the teacher explained them all, but she told us she thought iud's weren't safe, due to a similar story you shared. she'd had one removed because it was very uncomfortable and a relative of hers had one and it gave her an infection. luckily she didn't have to have a hysterectomy, but still. i'd rather take a pill.

I'm with. I'm all for the pill; well that is if I was on birth control. Currently, I'm not, and I don't plan on being probably until after my next child.

As with any other birth control, you have to weigh the pros & cons.. and decide if its worth trying. The IUD has its risks (uterine preforation, PID, risk of falling out, etc) just as any other birth control does. And not everyone will react to it the same.

I have the implanon implant in my arm. It isnt that bad at all. Ihave had it for 2 yrs and I dont really have any wierd side effects. The implanting process hurt when they injected me with the numbing stuff and that was it. They put it in. I have a tiny scar where it was implanted. It is good for 1 more year and I havent had sex once since i have had it so its kinda been a waste but better safe than sorry since my scatter brain is bad with pills and stuff i have to get done routinely. I also got the implanon bcuz i dont have medical insurance to go out and get BC and our IUDs checked, adjusted, removed, etc. So this was the best way for me to give myself some reassurance so I wouldnt have another baby anytime soon. Also I havent had but maybe 2 periods in 1.5 yrs

I have an IUD {Mirena}. I am on month 3. I hated for the first month. I cramped like a mofo and bled. Yes, it does hurt. Some more extreme then others. However, I am oh-so-happy I have it now :D

does anyone here get the depo-provera shot? i'm getting it sometime this week.
