I could always feel them, and to be honest I want to, so I know they are up there lol

I don't feel mine - the only time I do feel them is when I use a size that is too big for my flow on that specific day or when I don't put it up far enough.
But that could be because I use OB. Since I switched to OB, I haven't felt my tampon - when I was using plastic applicator tampons, I'd always feel them. |

Maybe it's different for everyone, but you're not SUPPOSED to feel it. At all. As in, it should feel as if nothing is there. If it's a really 'light' day and you're using one for a 'heavy' day, you'll probably feel it due to dryness. Or, as someone else said, maybe it's too low (as in you're not putting it far enough in). I assume you know that it's supposed to be completely inside your body, and that you can't push it too far. But as I said, it may be different for everyone. Personal preference I suppose

i think there is a diff between being able to feel that it is there, and it causing discomfort or pain

I tend to feel mine, but I think it's only when they have wiggled themselves too low. But I didn't regularly (well I still don't REGULARLY use them, this last period I had was the first time I've EVER, in 11 years, used nothing but tampons for the duration of my cycle) use them until after I started having sex. And I absolutely canNOT use OBs. I have to have a PLASTIC applicator lol.

I think they take some getting used to. I can usually feel them. And if my cramps are especially bad, I just can't stand them. And I think it depends on the person. You could always try different kinds of tampons to see what fits you best.

What this thread tells me is that everyone is different. There are how many types of tampons for HOW many vaginas? Exactly! One size does not fit all!

I wore pads up until I had sex for the first time. I had tried tampons before and it was the most uncomfortable experience ever. And then I had sex and I made the switch. I don't even notice anymore. You're not supposed to feel it. I use Tampax and have no issues with it. If it's a problem, try OB, women have said that's easier on you. And keep in mind that women's vaginas are different sizes, so what may work for one woman might not for another.

Lil-lets are the best, yo, because they have no applicator so you can push them up into the comfiest position. And they expand in a more natural way - like, they are shorter, but expand widthwise instead. I used Tampax at first and always felt them, but then I switched to Lil-lets and they are so much better! I never feel them. I think because Tampax are longer, you feel them near the mouth of your vag, but with Lil-lets you push them up further because they are shorter, and so they get into a place where you don't feel them. And because you use your finger rather than an applicator, you can totally find the best position to put them. And the string is really long, so they can't get lost. I actually tried Tampax again a year ago, just because I came on my period at college and the shop only sold Tampax, so I bought them and figured they probably weren't as bad as I remembered - but they really were, yo! I felt it the whole time I was wearing it.
BTW, Lil-lets are totally on sale at the moment in Asda! Four packs of 16 for £3, yo! Long live Lil-lets! I've stocked up for the entire year! |

I don't use tampons because I have an irrational fear of tampons disappearing up my vagina.
