Among all the other wow-inducing things - he was 91 and she is 66? Talk about an age gap. xD

you can't even take shampoo bottles on a plane, and they thought they'd get away with THAT!?

I would have liked to see how their 'he's just sleeping' story played out when they were hoisting his lifeless body in and out of his plane seat. What a bunch of fools.

What? Why would anyone do such a thing??

I just saw a video and it's of the two women saying that they didn't know he was dead!
I'm not quite sure what to think about it - I don't understand how they couldn't know. Here's the URL: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8604663.stm |

i had a heck of a time understanding them. haha. but i agree that they had to have known when they were lifting him in and out of the taxi..

And how did they get him into the taxi? They don't look like they could have lifted him in? So did a taxi driver help them?

you're right. none of this makes any sense at all.

Apparently the taxi driver helped get him out and the mans face fell against him...that's when he realised he was dead because his face was so cold. But, I have no idea about how they got him in!

It's all very odd, yo. So much missing from the story. They were arrested not for putting him on the plane, but for not giving notification of a death - and that is only suspicion. There seems to be debate about when exactly he did die. Possibly they didn't know. If he was always just sitting quietly and unresponsively in his wheelchair when alive, then they might not know the exact moment he kicks the bucket. Maybe it happened at some point on the journey and they didn't know what to do, or they were in denial - people often react illogically to a death.

It kind of seems legit...I mean, why would they be trying to smuggle a dead body to Germany, really? Also, the lady did make a good point, wouldn't he be stiff had he been dead for more than 24 hours? Not that this isn't creepy, but they could've really not known. He was very old, and could've been known to nap a lot...also, to be very quiet. I believe them... I think the claim, while reasonable to assume the worst immediately, is incorrect.

Rigor mortis isn't permanent, you are most stiff 12 hours after death, but after that you begin to soften again around 3 days after death you are completely floppy, considering he was cold to the touch during the taxi ride it is clear he had been dead a considerable amount of time.
