I am wondering if anyone knows how to block specific content on youtube, like a parent wanting to block things for a child? So if one were to search for something innapropriet it either wouldnt come up or say blocked? Thanks.

I think Youtube has it's own thing, where they judge what would be appropriate or inappropriate for Youtube. I remember seeing an old blog about censorship, and how parents should be on Youtube with their children to make sure the parents' judgment is pretty much left up to them. Otherwise, no there isn't one.

The problem with Youtubes 'censorship' is that there isnt much of it.. lol.. You can still go type 'porn' and pull up porn. :s

I guess internet explorer has adjustable safety settings but it blocks youtube all together because the site isnt rates.

I will look into some other sites and see what kind of general controls I can put on it.

@Mommy2Brycen - I don't think I've ever seen porn on Youtube outside of 4chan's raid.

@Mommy2Brycen - are you sure he doesn't get his porn from youporn.com? Or redtube.com? Both of which are popular and similar...

Nope its Youtube, hes shown me the channels/videos that he has found, and as previously stated he is completely computer retarded so I dont know how he manages.

And the block isnt for him I have a 15 year old cousin who uses my laptop and has been caught looking at it. I just used my fiance as an example because I am not going to go ask my cousin "Hey can you show me those sites that you went to that you just got into trouble for so I can block them"

Why don't you create a user profile for your cousin/anyone young, that way you don't have to change the settings when someone uses it, they simply login to a different account. Alternatively you can make a youtube account that is permanently logged on and block users individually.

That's a good idea, I don't use youtube for anything so didn't know you could put settings on each user. I'll just make him one cause he has to have access to it because one of his teachers makes videos for the class and it's homework.

If you make a new account, and the age is below 18 then youtube won't allow whoever is logged into it to see anything that the community flags as inappropriate.
I say new account because I know youtube doesn't allow you to change your age. Which is why my account has me listed as 22 ;D

As for manually blocking, there's not a way I know of :(

So like, you're trying to block things on the computer so that your fiancé can't look at porn?

Priceless, really.

Or make that new user profile/account for your computer and just block youtube.com altogether. Only allow stuff like sesame street and stuff. LOL.
