You mentioned Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels! Omg -- I absolutely love that film, too.
I totally forgot to mention it in my list =D Another good English film is Football Factory =)

American History X is very good, too.

Movies that everyone should see (including cave-people once they've been initiated into today's society by watching Mork and Mindy ;D):

1. Life is Beautiful (to show humanity at its worst and at its best, and how comedy and tragedy can totally co-exist)
2. Patch Adams (because it's inspiring and fun, as well as a sad but true commentary on the system - and Robin Williams is genius)
3. Nuts in May (because it's quirky and shows the ridiculous extremes of people taking themselves and their ideals too seriously, along with the inevitable inconsistency that everyone is guilty of)
4. Ma Vie en Rouge (because it demonstrates, through children, that gender doesn't necessarily correspond with body, and shows the importance of accepting difference)
5. Snow Cake (because it gives an insight into what it's like for an adult to live with autism, both the positives and the negatives, and without all the stereotypes of Rain Man - and also brings into question the things people accept as 'normality')
6. Mary Poppins (I know - I was supposed to stop at 5, but gosh, let's face it, life isn't complete until you've watched Mary Poppins! ;D)

In no particular order. . .

- The King's Speech.
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows {both parts!}
- Apocalypto.
- Snow Cake.
- Braveheart.

Just to cheat a little, I'd love to also add; Black Swan.

And, one a side-note, if we mention TV shows, I will HAVE to mention The Inbetweeners {the tellie show; not film}. It's great and will never, ever get old! Another one, which most of you probably know, is Glee. GLEEK ALERT! =)
