Norovirus isn't new, it's just springing up more notably now because the other causes of viral gastroenteritis (e.g. rotavirus) are being combated more effectively by vaccines. Still good to be aware of though =)

I'm willing go bet this is what my family had a few weeks ago. It was AWFUL and no matter what I cleaned and hos food we were with hand washing, we ALL caught it. Nasty bug. My DH ended up in the ER with dehydration and an IV.

Lithium layouts is right; it's not new. There was a massive outbreak here in our area. None of my family got it thank God.

I've never heard of it before (I'm from Maine), but I thought it would be good to post for people who don't know about it. It does sound like a nasty bug :/
