Bridget is so close on potty training... she just gets lazy... have any of you mothers ever tried just putting a pair of underwear on them and seeing how they do? You'd think that would make them learn faster. She knows when she needs to go she just doesn't always go to the potty because it's more convenient to just go in her diaper, lol

a lot of my friends have given me advice on potty training and they say to give yourself 2 or 3 full days to stay home and just keep your child in underware and have them go sit on the potty every 30 min.
most of my friends have been successful with it. i, myself, havent started training my son...so i dont know! :) good luck! |

yeah krystal ur gonna need like 3-4 days with her at the house. its a full time thing. plus if her "mother" is taking her she'll get confused bc she'll prolly tell her that she doesn't need to use the big girl potty. we know how that bitch can be!! so yeah all day in her undies and "u don't wanna pee in these. these r special undies". she'll get it.

when the family i babysit was in florida, the little girl (who turned 3 in january) got a really bad rash from wearing Little Swimmers. so they put a maxi pad in a pair of her underwear. they said it's easier because with any type of pull-up it's just like a diaper to the kid. using the maxi pad helped to absorb most of the pee, but made it feel different than the diaper.
except she wants nothing to do with potty training at all. she has no interest what-so-ever. |

It might be different for girls, but unfortunately putting my boys in underwear before they were already potty-trained only served in making more messes for me to clean up. And poop is really nasty to clean up out of underwear.

It really depends on the child. I work with preschoolers and some of the things that have helped with potty training at home are:
- Letting your child be around the house naked. This worked with a few of the kids I work with and now they go to the potty on their own. - For most of the kids though, taking them to the potty every 30 minutes seemed to really help out a lot. - Talking about it! Like, "you're a big girl now...." etc. - Letting her wear underwear. Most kids don't even like the feeling of being wet (when they have an accident) so they will grasp pretty quick that having wet underwear is not all that great. - There are also books that you can look for. We have several at work that we use (but I can't remember any of the titles, lol) but if you want a list, I can try to find out tomorrow. Good luck! |

thanks everyone... oh & nat... her birthmother hasn't even in called in over a month now so i doubt she'll be having her anytime soon.
But anyways last night I put her in her big girl underwear and she loved them, and she used the potty 5 times and NEVER peed in her underwear!! (of course while she sl ept she was in a diaper though) The babysitter said she'd work with her so I'm sending her to the sitter in undies today :-) |

oh and also, alaynie was so jealous that bridget got to wear big girl undies that i ended up having to put the undies on over alaynie's diaper to make her happy...LOL

yeah well she's gone in the potty a few times but i don't think she is at the point yet where she would even care if she peed on herself LOL
