Left a few comments in your diary..... but to sum it up... you need to replace the LCD screen. It can be easily done, but finding one can be tricky. But it is possible. Check Ebay for laptop parts with yoru model number. You might find a good screen on a dead machine that has a fried motherboard. Replacing it is a few screws and some cable connectors on most Dells.

In regards... it can be fixed. If you find a replacement screen that is. Which CAN be done.

Shit.... I should have thought about it. Dunno why I forgot. Message Steve.... he knows some people and can get deals on laptop stuff. :D HE is always buying parts and fixing them up for sale. Pretty sure he will help a fellow Blooper if he can!

Oh dear.... mine cost £300 for a new screen when that happened to mine, which is like $600 USD or something.

When I worked at Geek Squad, every time someone brought in a laptop like that, they told them flat out "it's cheaper to buy a new laptop/tv".
The LCDs are usually ridiculously expensive, at least every time I've looked they have been. |
