I'm not even sure if this is appropriate to post here, but how else will I find out?
The old Bloop is dead and gone. Those of us that have been here from the beginning know this. We have seen our friends leave. We have listened to them tell us to go somewhere else. We hear about how the main page is poorly laid out. We listen to people complain about Dear Anon drama. We have read entries about how boring/stupid/annoying the new Bloop is. Many of us came over to Bloop in great numbers after the great FOD fiasco of.... I don't even remember. Was it 2001 that I came here? 2002? Well we've seen our friends of 7+ years be replaced with boring people that only update once a month, and stupid teenage drama. Every forum thread turns into an argument of Christian vs. Atheist beliefs. Sure, I loved/was teenage drama when I was a teen, but surely that can't be all Bloop is? There has to be something common for all of us to Bloop about now that we've grown a bit, right? So we have two options. Build Bloop back up to what it used to be (how do we even start going about that? many of us oldies have real lives now, those that have left are too busy to come back, everyone is so fucking SENSITIVE about every comment and no one wants to laugh at drama anymore), or leave. What does everyone think? What should we do to make Bloop feel like home again? OR What site will you go to/are you also on? I've been a Bloop faithful since.... I can remember. My FOD and LJ died ages ago. I will say, that I will always have my Bloop account, so long as Bloop is around. But what's the point of posting online if no one is gonna read it or if you only get really stupid, meaningless, or clueless comments? I have a computer, I am perfectly capable of logging my entries on my hard drive if no one is going to respond to them anyway. So I am open to going to another community as well for some feedback and new friends, and I want to know what my fellow Bloopies have found out there and what you recommend. |

I've been on bloop since early 2003, and I have to say that things have long since changed and been different. I stay for my own reasons, but I don't enjoy this site like I used to. I don't look forward to coming here and talking about things, and I don't feel any real attachment to it anymore.
It's sad, really. Most of my friends feel this way too. I wish that things could go back to the way they were, but unfortunately, I don't believe this is a change that bloop can effectively make anymore. |

I agree about the lack of attachment. Have you gone to another site? And met cool people there?

I have diaries on LJ and OD as well, but I don't really use them. OD is just...crappy. lol And LJ...while it's good, it's hard to get connected to people there. I lose interest quickly. Nothing is like what bloop used to be...BLOOP isn't even what it used to be. lol
Most of the people I talk to on those sites were people I previously knew here. Or...I met from there, and they came here. |

Same here I don't even remember my FOD username anymore, or my LJ password. Maybe I should just be glad of the friends I have made and stop trying to find cool people... but the world is so big!

I've been here since 2003-
I came here from TOD to get away from all of the porn comment spams, those we annoying. I will probably never leave bloop. |

thats the same reason I came to bloop!!! Those comment spams were SO annoying
|

I learned quickly how to get rid of them, but damn it got old quickly having to do it 5-6 times a day
|
Gem♥ Post Count: 132 |
I never figured it out, because there was never a delete button like on normal comments!!!! so i left pretty quickly

I've been on Bloop for 6 years the 28th of this month, since May 28, 2003. I came with the great numbers in the FOD fiasco! Even through the black outs and crashes, I can't see myself leaving Bloop. I've tried OD, LJ, Xanga, Digital Expressions (when that was alive.. or is it still?) and nothing is my home except Bloop. Nothing else is as user friendly to me, I would hate the whole getting used to a different layout process:P. Bloop is my home and I shant leave it! Finding a way to make it the OLD Bloop, though.. well, don't know if it's possible.
(I would say you've been on Bloop since 2002, by the way, since it wasn't open til then xD.) |

XD I know, I did notice at the bottom the copyright said 2002 but I really felt I'd come here before I was 17 haha! I suppose if I came in early '02 I still would have been 16 :P
I don't even really know what I want to get out of it anymore. The responses to this thread have lead my thoughts in a different direction than I intended/expected- but that's not necessarily bad! |

Ah, 16. I was teeny tiny one of 13 when I came! I'm kind of glad I can't see my first entires anymore. Quite embarrassing!

I've been leaning towards apathy regarding bloop, lately. I'm attached to this site. I love the layout, and have yet to find another site that I like that has anything similar.
But, at the same time, its been boring. Not much drama to be amused by, people are too busy to post, etc. Maybe, like me, they are bored. To me, places like LJ only really work if you already have a circle of friends on that site. Its not really a "community" feel. I do like the set up of the groups though. :-) |

Maybe it all depends on what circles you run in.

i've been here for the better part of....6 years.
This site has changed SO much. So much drama and bullshit. So many petty arguments. So much gossip. i dont think that we can ever get back the old bloop... i dont even know how to try to get it back.... |

Like Echo said, i feel a detachment here as well. I update when i feel like it....or when i find out something interesting... its not an everyday/week thing for me.... it just doesnt have the same feel anymore

WELL, HONESTLY, I'VE BEEN HERE ABOUT 4 YEARS, I THINK, AND I DON'T THINK THERE IS MORE DRAMA AND BULLSHIT AND SENSITIVITY NOW. THERE WAS ALWAYS DRAMA AND BULLSHIT AND SENSITIVITY. BLOOP IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE, BUT I DON'T THINK THAT IS BECAUSE THERE IS MORE DRAMA. I THINK IT'S JUST QUIETER. AND IF ANYTHING, THERE IS LESS DRAMA. IT JUST LOOKS LIKE MORE BECAUSE IT'S ALL CENTRED AROUND ONE DIARY - DEAR ANON. THAT WAS LIKE THE LAST FIZZLY ATTEMPT TO REINSTATE SOME OLD DRAMAZ AND GET THE 'GOOD OLD DYSFUNCTIONAL DAYS' BACK! BLOOP WAS MUCH LIVELIER BACK IN THE DAY. PEOPLE GOT MORE INVOLVED - MORE SENSITIVE, MORE INDIGNANT, MORE ENTHUSIASTIC, MORE INFURIATED. THEY JUST CARED MORE ABOUT THINGS. NOW IT'S LIKE EVERYONE'S GROWN OLD AND JADED, YO, AND THEY COULDN'T BE ARSED! MAYBE THE MATURATION PROCESS. THE THING IS, IT STARTED AS A DIARY SITE FOR TEENS, BUT I REALLY THINK THE MAJORITY ARE NOT TEENS ANY MORE, AS YOU SAY.
AND PERHAPS IT'S BECAUSE BLOOP KEEPS CRASHING. IT'S LIKE WE KEEP BEING FORCED TO LEAVE BLOOP - DUE IT ITS NON-EXISTENCE - AND THEN WE RETURN. BUT IN OUR HEARTS WE LEFT ALREADY. SO IT FEELS SORT OF LIKE GOING TO A HIGH SCHOOL REUNION. FUN TO SEE EVERYONE - BUT, LIKE, IT'S NOT HIGH SCHOOL ANY MORE! |
mixie Post Count: 196 |
You're right- there is less drama... but I think more sensitivity. Like you said everyone has grown up so we try to avoid drama, but come on! When drama finds US it's fun to read about it! Dear Anon concentrated all the drama, but that made it stupid, because it was anonymous. You can't relate to your friends' drama if it's anonymous! You can't take one side or the other because you don't know the back story! *shrug* Ah well. I already said I wasn't leaving... I really just kind of want to meet some new interesting folks, and the new ones on Bloop are just too young for me to relate to anymore!
|
Estella Post Count: 1779 |
WELL, IT WASN'T ALWAYS AS ANONYMOUS AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE, YO. LIKE, A LOT OF THE TIME PEOPLE KNEW AND TOOK SIDES. AND ALSO A LOT OF THE ENTRIES WERE FAKIES, YO!
|
mixie Post Count: 196 |
I know! I did love laughing at the entries, whether they were fake or not! But I never really felt like I could "take a side" because it was either so ridiculous that there was only one side, or because I felt like I didn't know enough info. It's just so much funner when the drama is in individual diaries and you get to see it unfold instead of it all trying to squish into one entry that is supposed to be anonymous!

God Estella the way you make it it makes me feel like an old fogey. xD
|
Estella Post Count: 1779 |
WELL, GOSH, YO, YOU ARE AN OLD FOGEY, NIKKY! YOU ARE NOT A TEENAGER, ARE YOU? NO, YO - THAT AUTOMATICALLY PUTS YOU IN THE PAST-IT FOGEY CATEGORY! ;D
I SEE YOU'RE DOING A VALIANT ATTEMPT AT TEENAGE DUCK-LIPS THOUGH! ;D YOU COULD JUST ABOUT PASS AS A NAUGHTY TEEN IF YOU MADE A FEW SPELLING ERRORS TO MATCH, YO! |
