So, i have a question. I had dropped my ipod into the sink lastnight and it had a rubber cover over it so it didnt get totally submerged I guess it probably did... and i pulled it out quick and start blowing on it to get all the water out. It was able to turn off and on but the screen would go all nasty so id shut it off and kinda let it dry out. I know i shouldnt have but i thought it was dry and plugged it into the computer to see if it still turned on (which it did). i unplugged it right away and it stayed on and was able to play music and do like it always does. However once i turned it off, it shut off and when i tried to turn it on this morning it wouldnt restart up for me until i plugged it back into the computer. When i do have my ipod on (after i have plugged it in) i am able to use the wheel n whatnot and click and it works fine...

do you think i fried it or something? I guess im confused. i have seen to put the ipod in raw rice to let it absorb all the excess water. but im lost as to what is going on. anyone know?

never turn it right on after dropping it in water if you let it dry out before turning it on it would be ok but turning it on while it was still wet could cause it to short circut

Anything out of the norm should be noted and taken for repairs.

My brother dropped his into his fish tank -I'm assuming it was in ther efor a while b/c he didn't find out until he woke up the following morning- and all we did was open it up and let it set for a few days. It was completely submerged + had no covering and after it dried out (after about 3 days) it worked fine.

The water could make the components inside rust, which would stop messages being passed, or the water inside could be mixing up the electrical messages. Leave it for a while without plugging it into the computer and without trying to turn it on, you need little bags of moisture beads, raw rice wont do anything really. My Ipod has been through alot too, dropped, trodden on, left out in the rain, but shes reached the state where the headphone jack has died :(

well i mean i let it dry out n stuff.. i probaby didnt long enough but i am able to hear things, see it just like NORMAL like nothing ever happened. although after i turn it off on its own for awhile... it um wont turn back on. i just dont know if its from before or what but i have it back on again.. it runs fine.. i guess i dunno.. if it dont turn on by itsself my boyfriend will buy me a new one. and i have seen numerous posts on apple.com regarding doing the rice as rice soaks up humidity... so i dunno lol

Yeh never turn anything on after dropping in water... I finally learned after turning My MP3 plasyer, mobile phone and laptop and there was anotehr mobile phone too... all of which where either dropped in water or liquid was spilled on them... Apparently turning something elicitrical on after it's been wet can blow the curcuit or motherboard. *Sigh* Now if i had of known that with my last laptop......

i agree with this my ex ex once dropped me in the bath, then tried to turn me on and well i just didn't work after that lol. I was never the same :-P
