I'm looking for some fun vacation places for me and my boyfriend to go to over the next few years. I've got the 1001 places to see before you die (USA/Canada version) so we'll be doing some of those but we'd love to find some not so typical places to go to around the US. Like for instance someone suggested to me to go to Bed Rock..
how awesome?! I'd love to find other places like this around the country. I know they are out there! lol So i was wondering if you guys could help. Places you've been, heard of/know of. Any websites to go to. Thanks guys! |

Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is amazing if you like rollercoasters. And Pigeon Forge, TN is absolutely gorgeous if you dig the whole mountain/country vibe.
I'd also recommend Frankenmuth, MI. |

I am from wisconsin, but I live in Denver now. You have to go to Wisconsin Dells, it is the largest waterpark in the US, also very historical and beautiful. Laura Ingalls Wilders house is in Wisconsin, as well as the first every circus site is in Baraboo Wisconsin. The mall of America is in Minneapolis MN...There is a place in New Mexico called the Catwalk, I cannot remember where, also Carlsbad Caverns down there.

If you go to New York, I did a brilliant walking tour there. I only had a few days there, so for me it was perfect as we saw SO much. Our tour guide was a 60-something year old New Yorker who did the tours for free (they were offered through the HI Youth Hostel I was staying in, but I'm sure there's other ways of signing up as not everyone on the tour was staying at the hostel) as he enjoyed doing it so much! We started at our hostel, near central park, then took the subway to Brooklyn and walked back up! We had a late lunch/early dinner at this cool little restaurant in china town (the only thing we paid for. The tour was free and saw all of the main sites of Manhattan.
The tour started at 8am, and finished at 2am (all on foot, apart from the subway at the very start) although me and one of the other girls decided upon the arrival of the tour at Times Square at midnight that our feet were too sore to continue for another 2 hours! Great experience though, despite the sore feet! I also recommend cycling the Golden Gate Bridge if you're in San Francisco, and a wine tasting tour of Sonoma or Napa. |
