I walked into outerspace with my eyes closed...

11/28/2012

Well it's been over a year since I've updated. I stand in awe of how quickly 2012 has passed me by. Luckily that seems to be a general consensus for many people around me.

I moved to Tucson at the beginning of the year to do some big(ger) city living and see that I solidified a job so I could pay for things without just using inheritance monies. So I did that - got the job, the house, the things & have been enjoying myself pretty well for the past year. I remain a lone wolf in the scene of romance, which has been just fine up until recently when I have started to feel jabs of "aww, I wish I had someone to cuddle up with under blankets to watch The X Files with." I attribute much of that to seeing my roommate have a constant stream of cute boys to cuddle with. Not in a weird she's juggling a lot, but it seems like when one goes awry she's always got a back up guy. I don't know - self pity in such a way that ultimately prevents me from getting out there myself to find anything. I'd like to skip right to the watching X Files under the blanket.

My job is about 7 miles away from my house & I'm one of them stubborn hippies that refuses to buy a car out of some moral standard that I can get around without one. And I can and have and many people do and it's been great. I end up putting in about 14 miles a day on my beautiful cherry red stallion, which is pretty cool cause that translates to probably over 70 miles a week including all the other running around I end up doing. And I think those numbers are pretty darn cool. Summer time here in the Sonoran Desert were not exactly pleasant to deal with, but there is solidarity in suffering through a grueling summer day. There is only old sweat and new sweat. And also I think humans have some weird short term memory problem at large that forces us to forget that it was even hot at one point because now it's all pleasant and shit.

I might actually be from the MidWest with all this weather talk.

Halloween this year was extremely fun. I had been thinking about my costume ever since I went to Austin back in May and did drugs and saw TOM FUCKING PETTY. My friend Lena & I recieved this book of fly puns by an author named Buggs Frevvr. Aaaand then we made our costumes. We dressed up as flies - big sparkly eyes, an extra set of arms dangling under our real arms, wee little wings, and weird face masks - and then wore clocks. Get it?? Time flies!! It kills me every time I think about it. Most people didn't understand my baseless pun humor because "blahblahblah I'm a hipster and am above that blahblahblah" but to that I would say fuck you! Most people take a second to even catch puns so there is something to them, ya jackass. Well, maybe not in so many words.

Let's see here... I guess not too much else is sticking out in my mind at the moment. I'm currently at work by myself in the office as my boss left for Bisbee for the day. Speaking of Bisbee, I'm planning on celebrating New Years there because they know how to paaaar-taaaaay. Apparently. It's rumored there are just amazing basement parties and weird people - two of my favorite things in the winter time! So we'll see. I also have heard that securing a place to stay can be tricky seeing as how the whole damn town is built on the side of a mountain (mining industry - sheesh) and doesn't necessarily have the largest occupancy hotels. So many legistics to work out!

So I will now post some photos of life pretty recently:
1.) Went to see my hometown favorite band, Spafford, play the Furthur after party in fucking VEGAS. It was amaaaaaazing. Seriously, look them up on the Youtubes or Facebooks if you're into grooving jam ska funk blues hootin hollerin good time dancing your ass off. They're also up on archive.org with FREE downloads of most of their shows. They really are all about the music and seeing them live completely melts my face and heart. Proud townie here.

2.) Hanging out in the Verde River with Wells, me, Jordan, and Brendan. Awesome fucking natural hot springs out there which used to be a part of a resort, so it's actually really neat. We were just playing with the current of the river and drinking beer here.

3.) We were stuck in traffic heading north on I-17 because there was a produce truck on fire about 10 miles ahead of us. So naturally it was time to take out the guitar and strum a few songs.

4.) Over summer I liked to watch sunset in Saguaro National Park because there is a certain type of light that completely illuminates the cholla and Saguaro in such an eerily beautiful way. And of course sunsets in Arizony are always spectacular because the sky is so damn big!

holy shit, it's you!

it sounds as though you've created a wonderful life for yourself. and i definitely approve of the bike bit. my aunt got me hooked on cycling this past summer. we intend to complete a century ride next summer if my life allows such nonsense.

if you lived in the midwest, you'd understand why the weather is constantly in our conversations

you seem really happy. its good to see.

Hi! Bah it has been so long! I don't know what compelled me to log on, but it's funny how readily I recalled my username and password. I guess I spent a looooot of time on this site.

ha, you and me both, my friend. there are a lot of memories associated with this site. perhaps thats why i've lingered here for so long, especially when so many people that i used to connect with are long gone. for some reason, i can't bring myself to let it go.

i've been to arizona once; you're right- the sky is huge. the moon here last night was amazing, but alas, i was driving without a camera.

I want to go out east again soon. But probably not until spring/summer '13 based on me wanting to keep my current job for a second.
Simply goooorgeous moon. I wanted to just walk around all night it was so bright! I need to get a damn camera for things like that.
