So I kinda miss the days of feeling like events that happened on a day-to-day basis were important enough to take note of. I guess that's a part of growing up.

In my only class today we were talking about Christianity and its origins. The religion (supposedly) focuses on intentions with an emphasis on following the rules and motivation and all that shit. The point is my professor, who is a very intelligent and scholarly gentleman that is rather neurotic and awkward at most moments, made the example of Why Don't We Litter When There's No One Looking. Interesting. I guess the primary thought that went through my mind at that point was: what's so different about throwing a candy wrapper on the ground and taking ALL of our trash to a remote site and throwing it in the ground? It's just as bad that we don't have good solutions for all the trash that doesn't get recycled in however many forms of recycling there are.

And then I got a little depressed.

Human beings are just way too destructive for me. It's like we have this great capacity to create things but forget about what to do with it when we're finished.

I read that Russia and Venezuela are planning on developing nuclear technology that will be available to the public and that just plain scares the shit out of me. Quite honestly I find nuclear technology a scary prospect and will continue to do so until we figure out a better way to dispose of it than burying it in the ground and hoping that nobody notices. Don't think that I'm not an advocate of developing alternative renewable (BETTER) energy sources because everyday I feel like slashing tires and putting water in gas tanks and finding any way to get people to stop driving their fucking cars. But that's a rant for another day.

its kind of hard not to get depressed when thinking of topics like that. kind of like how the rate of children being prescribed medication for add/adhd and so on by the age of 3-4 is on the rise. people are odd things.

i'm applying to go to the same university as i'm currently graduating from. they're one of the leading universities in my field, and a professor has asked me to be their grad assistant, which means my tuition would be paid for and i would recieve a stipend each month. so i figured i might as well go for it

its like they're never going to let me leave!
