Charged with "failure to appear in court for: DOGS RUNNING @ LARGE.
WTF?!!?!
I was arrested & posted bail around 2:30 AM.
The dog wasn't even mine. I was staying @ a friend's house in Sandy back in June of last year, woke up to an authoritive sounding knock @ the front door. My friend at the time, was too drunk to get out of bed so I answered the door. My friend's 2 dogs had apparently gotten out of the backyard & the neighbors called animal control. 1 of the dogs who had gotten out managed to make it back to the house without having to be picked up by animal control. The officer (wasn't a cop), asked me if the dog in the back of his truck belonged to me. I said "no, that is my friend's dog but he's asleep which is why I am the one out here talking to you." Then the officer asked me to sign a paper, which at the time, I thought it was a release form to get the dog back, turns out that it was a citation to appear in court for "dog running @ large". So, I a month later, I called the number that the officer had given me & they told me that they had absolutely NO RECORD WHAT SO EVER of me or the citation. Ok, cool. I didn't think anything of it.
Last night, I went for a walk, ran into an old friend who happened to be driving in his truck. He pulled off to the side of the road & I got into his truck & we just sat there & BS'd a bit. Then a cop car pulled up behind the truck, my door was wide open when the cop showed up so obviously there wasn't anything suspiscious going on but apparently a neighbor had called, reporting "suspicious activity" going on. The officer asked for both of our IDs, I didn't have mine so I gave him my name, he told us "have a good night" and we drove off. 5 mins later, a few blocks away, we both realized that the officer was still behind us & then, as we turned a corner the officer flipped his lights on & we pulled off to the side of the road. To make a long story short, I was arrested due to a warrent out of Sandy, for "DOGS RUNNING @ LARGE".
I was taken to jail, they searched me, took my snuggly warm hoody away & put me in a cement cell. Ick!!! Whatever, I was kind of amused to be honest, I knew I didn't do anything wrong & they clerks and jail security officers were be very nice to me. =) They let me make my calls & told me to sit in the waiting room until my fam showed up to "bail" me out.
Anyway, it was an interesting night... they even took my picture!!! =)
