So... My mom and I are kind of getting back to normal. When I first found out I was pregnant I kind of hermit-ed myself in my room for a while... Just because I kind of like... "Hmmmm... maybe if she can't see me... she won't be so disappointed in me."
It was stupid. But I was insecure and we had yet to hash out all our feelings on the baby, Pete, what happened... everything. As I started to go to more Dr's appointments it started getting better. The first time we really talked was after we left the second appointment when we heard the heartbeat. That made us both cry in a good way and we bonded a little.
We started hanging out in the living room, watching Judge Judy and Jeopardy more regularly again like we used to.''
Today was a good day.
I'd been walking around singing to the baby ...which I do at random just because I'm a dork. So far her favorite songs seem to be Piece of My Heart and Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin.
When it was time to watch Jeopardy my mom and I were laying on the couch and the baby was still moving around from when I was singing to her.
So my mom was feeling her kick and she asked if she could talk to her grand daughter. She laid down with her head in my lap for a little while, just telling her about what kind of day we had. How mommy had to go to work and the dentist and the dog looking for squirrels at the park... just normal stuff.
Squish was moving a bit and my mom was goofing around pressing her ear to my belly pretending the baby was talking to her.... the baby kicked her in the face.
