That was really weird...
So I saw Pete's dad in the store today. He came in looking for a certain kind of bread (both his and Pete's favorite... is it sad that I still know that after all the crap I've been though with that jerk?) and then asked how the baby was.
So I showed him her picture.
Of course he went on and on about how cute she is and she looks just like me... asked what color her eyes are.
By the way, they seem to be taking after mine... as in you can't quite tell what color to call them.
But a baby's eyes can take up to a year to settle on a color, so I guess we'll see.
The cute thing was that he said there's only one thing wrong with Elora.
She's got more hair than him lol
Pete's parents don't know that Elora is their granddaughter. Or as far as I know they don't... and I don't think he would have been as cheerful as he was if he knew he had a grand-baby that his son wasn't helping take care of.
Cause from what I know about them, they'd make him man up and help.
They'd force him to care and that wouldn't be fair to Elora.
He might get resentful and take his frustration out on her... not that he would ever treat her poorly.... but kids pick up on the "If I hadn't had this baby my life might have been different... better."
I never said anything to my parents but I could always tell my grandma thought that about my brothers and I.... to the point where she stopped baby sitting for us when my parents announced that they were expecting my little brother.
Sad really.
So I didn't tell him about Elora... and he didn't ask who her dad is.
Weird.
In other frustrating/ridiculous news...
So my mom was thinking and a few days ago she suggested keeping a spare diaper bag in the car. Just one with a few outfits, some diapers and wipes... you know in case we forget the big bag, and we need to change her.
So because I didn't pack said bag immediately I'm a jerk.
My dad forgot the diaper bag in the house when he went to pick up my mom from work.
And of course... my child being difficult, made her really big poop of the day while they were on the way out to get mom.
And my milk supply was short yesterday, so they had to cut her bottle with some formula.... so her tummy was kind of ... off.
So it smelled. lol
And yes, my dad was annoyed at me, because he forgot the diaper bag and there wasn't anything in the car. By the way... I had been up since 6am with the baby, and a nasty sinus cold before I went to work at 12:30pm.
Blah.
I guess I was supposed to telepathically tell my dad not to forget the diaper bag.
There's an emergency baby kit in a bag ready to be put in the car tomorrow at least.
And I thought to put some receiving blankets in there so they have something to lay her on when they change her.
Hopefully I don't forget anything on Saturday... that's when I'm trying to go out with Torrance and Elora to see what we can find in the way of holiday dresses.
She needs something to wear to Stephanie's wedding too.
That's just at eh justice of the peace... but who cares?
I just want and excuse to dress her up.
