i have had a wonderful long weekend.
we went to the jays game friday with some friends. the jays won. we went for drinks and food after. an all around great night.
yesterday, my brother and his girlfriend kristen came to the city. i met them, and her sister dayna, at their swanky hotel downtown. we went to the ball game, and had a great time. against my advice, our seats were in the sun, so it was hot as shit, but plenty of beer helped with that. sadly, the jays lost, in a shitty play, but we had a fun time nonetheless. after the game we stopped by the lcbo for more refreshments, then went back to the hotel. dayna's boyfriend joined us, and we drank and talked and watched tv while deciding on a restaurant for dinner. kristen wanted seafood, so we made a reservation at rodney's oyster house. josh came down after work and we all went to dinner around 8:30. what a dinner. loster, dungeness crab, clams, scallops, and so forth. $300 later we were happily stuffed with all the yums the sea has to offer. we went back to the hotel to hang out till midnightish, then it was home to bed for this old lady.
today i slept in, and it was glorious. mid-day, i headed downtown to meet krysta for lunch. i took my camera with the intention of wandering the streets and taking photos. i've had my dslr since january and still don't feel like i use it as much as i should, or am familiar enough with its settings. we had sushi for lunch and it was delicious, even if krysta messed up our order and we ended up with maki instead of handrolls for most of our first platter. oops.
sushi looks like this:
and we got some handrolls eventually...
after lunch we walked around a while, then took the streetcar back to my apartment to veg, and recover from our still-so-full bellies.
i just made brownies in our baker's edge pan. they are delicious, and a great snack as we watch breaking bad. krysta's spending the night. i have no idea what we're doing tomorrow - even if it's nothing, i will be happy just to not be at work. |
