That's just fucking STUPID. I mean i think it's give and take, Eric and I are like that to a degree. For instance, all this land buying nonsense, i've pretty much just said "GO NUTS, report back before signing anything." Only because he knows INFINITELY MORE about property value and building permits and building codes and for that matter, WHAT TO LOOK FOR when buying land, than i ever will in a million years. But even so, i'm still readily aware of every move he makes, BEFORE he makes it, and why he wants to make that particular move. Some people are dumb as cold shit.

When Mark and I move out next month, we're splitting the bills so one doesn't haven't to pay for everything. I do agree with you though, sometimes people have no idea how much things are because one person pays for it all.

I can honestly say that my ignorance is mostly due to disinterest.

I have a general idea about our finances, but I don't know the full details. I could if I asked, but I don't know everything. I mean, I know all balances and such, but I honestly couldn't tell you how much we pay for our credit cards. It doesn't make me ignorant, it makes me a lazy bugger.

You weren't the only one having that moment...I was like SERIOUSLY? What is wrong with some people?? I get that I'm sure they trust their spouses to handle everything efficiently, but to be oblivious? I couldn't do that. Although...that's kind of how things go here. Ben doesn't pay the bills, I do. However, since we are a 'team' and it's our money, I brief him on everything. I tell him how much each bill is when it comes in, and then on the day before payday he tells me how much his check is going to be. I tell him how much I need for everything and how much we'll have leftover. Because it would NOT feel right, to me, to not tell him. It's not just my money or his, and both of us need to be aware. Not to mention, both of us need to know HOW to pay the bills in case one of us is unable to do so for whatever reason....

i don't expect both people to sit there and write cheques together, but no have literally no idea how much money is going where just baffles me.

I'd say every six months or so, yeah. They do stretch out quite a bit, so it's good to get a new one every now and again.
