i had a wonderful weekend.
friday night we went out to celebrate my friend michelle's birthday. she chose a place downtown: an irish pub that was celebrating oktoberfest. slight identity crisis, if you ask me, but fun nonetheless. i met some of her friends from work and immediately hit it off with this boy, taylor. taylor's reputation preceeded him, as last time i went out with michelle and her friend dan from work, they presented their cases to me as to whether or not taylor was gay [michelle] or straight [dan]. within about half a second of meeting taylor, i knew he was gay. no question. and i think that's why i love him so much. i've been really, really missing having a sassy gay friend. i'm going to try to hang out with mich's work friends again, specifically with taylor. if only they weren't all way-westers. sigh.
saturday morning i favoured sleeping in in place of a hair cut, but i did manage to dye it while cleaning the apartment. jesse came from london, and tho it took her forever to get here due to traffic, it was wonderful to see her. jesse, josh and i went for a very late lunch/very early dinner at my favourite sushi place. [kelly: i wish i'd found it before you visited. you're pretty much the only friend i haven't taken there at this point. come back, please? i promise you'll love bikkuri.] we came back to the apartment to freshen up, then jess and i ttc'ed it downtown. we had to stop at eaton centre, because she somehow had a hole in the bum of her leggings [leggings are not pants!!] so she bought a new pair, pulled a quick-change in the bathroom, and we were off to the entertainment district. we saw rock of ages, and i loved it just as much as i did the first time i saw it. it's a wonderful, fantastic, hilarious, adorable, ultra-great production. also, i'm head over heels for the male lead. i'm so glad that i saw it with jesse. we had a blast, and i know that she loved it just as much as i did. such a great time.
after the show we came home, ordered a pizza, and watched clueless, quoting a majority of the movie verbatim. it's how we do.
we slept in yesterday, then went on a tutu supplies adventure. turns out that part of the trip was a mega fail, but we went in to old navy while we were in the area, and all of their clearance stuff was half off the sale price. i bought an adorable tshirt i'd seen months ago, but refused to pay $20 for at the time, for $4. jesse and i bought the same yoga sweater, originally $34.50, on for $10. and i bought a $60 coat for $14.50. it's green, and so adorable. [katie, you'll dig. i thought of you when i bought it].
after an afternoon of girlchatting on the couch, jesse left around 3 and joshua and i proceeded with our usual sunday evening ritual of cooking dinner together, and watching sunday night tv. it's so strange to be watching dexter in "real time". we've always watched it after the fact, on dvd. waiting a week to find out what happens is exciting and frustrating at once. |
