my mom came down today and met me at the total wedding show in mississauga. it was... interesting. i heard about the show from katherine, the show is a client of her firm's. she managed to get us comp tickets, which was great. one really cannot complain about free tickets and all the wedding cake you can taste.
i'm not exactly sure what i was expecting, but it was a good day. i didn't get a huge amount accomplished, other than pre-registering at the bay. oh, and finding a dress contender, no big deal. there was a surprising (to me) lack of casual, beach-appropriate wedding dresses, tho i guess at something like this a shop would want to showcase their biggest, blingiest, showstopper dresses. anyway, there was one dress featured in the fashion show that is very much the style i've been picturing, is a reasonable price, and is easily available. the major difference between it and the dress i've had bookmarked since before our engagement is the fabric, so that may end up being a deciding factor. there were also at least 2 solid options for lindsay's dress, and possibly for my mom.
hm, looking back on what i just wrote, and the bags of swag and information that i got, today was more productive than i thought. the late lunch i had with my parents after the show didn't hurt either. i love my family.
i may go see blue valentine with my friend sarah tomorrow. then again, i might not, as our friendship is still semi-new and i'm not sure i'm prepared to let her see me weep at a movie. that, and the weather is shitty so i might like to spend sunday afternoon in sweats, with fuzzy slippers on and a blanket wrapped around 87% of my body. ryan gosling makes it mighty tempting to go tho. "hey girl, i made a movie. it's sort of sad, but also adorable. wanna watch it?" uh, yes! |
