as per usual, too much time has passed since i last wrote, and i don't even know where to begin. i guess i'll just catch things up as quickly and easily as possible.
josh and i had a great time in niagara falls. we were there for 3 days/2 nights, and had an all around great time. the weather was gorgeous the second day we were there and we got to walk around and just enjoy the sights and each other. i managed to lose $40 (my limit) at the casino, while husbatron left up $130, so that was an overall win. i was going to post a bunch of photos from the trip, but they're all on facebook so i'll just post one here and you can head over to the old fb if you care to see the rest.

after niagara we headed up to my mom's place. just spent a carefree, relaxing few days up there. we had our delayed thanksgiving dinner, and i cooked the turkey. after years of sous-chefing for my mom, i was actually really proud of myself for taking the lead on the turkey (and dressing). it was so delicious!

my brother and his girlfriend came for dinner, they're always fun. i'm so glad that we got all our sibling rivalry out of the way as kids and i can now admit and relish the fact that my brother is one of the coolest, funniest people i know.
when we got back to toronto, i found out that my co-worker who broke her hand october 1 and was due to be back at work when i got back from vacation, had managed to land herself in the hospital with a fractured pelvis. don't even get me started on how i think a 26 year old managed to fall down the stairs and break bones twice within a month, but needless to say, i was not a happy camper walking into work the next morning. long story short, after being miserable at my job for the last month, a tiny bit of progress was finally made today in regards to me not doing the work of 2 people until she returns (which likely won't be for 6 months). i was getting really depressed about it, so it's good to have a little bit of that weight lifted after emails exchanged with my boss. (for the record, there's still A LOT of bullshit going on there, and i'll still happily quit in a heartbeat the moment we're financially/logistically able to leave here).
this past weekend my mom came down for a girl-type weekend. she got here friday afternoon and after josh got home from work the three of us did some shopping and had dinner. saturday, she and i spent the entire day shopping, eating, and generally talking smack. that night, i introduced her to the mcgangbang. she'd never heard of it and was super intrigued about trying one. she actually loved it, which was hilarious to me, as my mom is generally an anti-fried, anti-grease, anti-gluttony type person.

sunday we went for brunch (i had crab cake eggs benedict - mmm!) and then to a matinee performance of war horse. the play lived up to everything i'd heard, it was breathtaking. i mean, the story was good, but the puppetry was what blew me away; the mannerisms of the horses, the way they moved and reacted, were perfect. i would have never thought that 2 giant horse puppets interacting would make me cry, but there were definitely tears.
so now it's back to the grind. gotta get thru the week so i can meet a tumblr friend on saturday and see my parents again on sunday. they're coming down for a legends hockey game at the acc on sunday and omg mats sundin will be there so i'll likely cry. apparently i cry at everything now. seriously tho, horses and hockey superstars, what more could a girl want? |
