i have had an excellent day.
joshua and i decided to spend the day as urban explorers. it was excellent.
i left this house with this:
blackberry, wallet, ttc day pass. all a girl needs for a day in the city.
we were stoked to spend the day with a vague agenda, gorgeous weather, and a concrete jungle to explore.
we started with the subway, then walked thru the entertainment district. our first destination was mountain equipment co-op, for a big pod, which i got in nautical blue, a colour that the internet listing does not do justice. so pretty. it's as awesome as my little pods, with room to pack a sweater. win. we also bought bpa-free nalgenes. mine is red and pretty.
we hopped on the spadina streetcar for a few stops, and got off in chinatown.
[we left chinatown with a list of 8 fruits/vegetables that little old foodie me had never seen and/or heard of before.]
[greens]
[dried fish]
[dried shrimp]
[asian tourist pose]
[kensington market]
[in kensington. the grilled cheese is on nassau. it serves nothing but grilled cheese (and sides).]
after a couple of hours of walking, shopping [i bought some spices at the most delicious smelling spice shop], and lunching in kensington, we headed to eaton centre for a few specific things. after striking out at sportchek for new work and workout shoes, i went to aerie for undies. they had a sale on, 7 pairs for $25. hello! clearly i loaded up. then, while waiting for josh to come meet me, i noticed their workout stuff, and remembered that they carry select new balance shoes. i usually buy new balance anyway, so i scurried over to take a look. lo and behold, they had a great pair, in my size, on clearance for $40! i usually buy trainers in the $100 range, so $40 is awesome! especially when we asked if there were any more in back and were happily surprised to find another pair. 2 pairs of shoes for less than i'd planned to spend on one! AND new underwear?! oh heck yes!
after aerie, i hit up starbucks for a caramel brûlé latte and my day was pretty much made.
now we're home, just hanging out. we'll likely start a movie soon, and maybe order some dinner, since i don't feel like cooking. i love toronto so much on days like this, and i love my bee. |
