gravity, stay the hell away from me.

03/16/2011

someone stole/copied my credit card. mother fucker.
i randomly decided to check my credit card online today and the last three charges are 2 "debits" and "credits" for ticketmaster for $543.90 each and a $6 charge to "court services gov bc victoria". so i call my credit card company and the first guy i get is an idiot.
he says "well the ticketmaster charges were refunded and the government thing the card wasn't physically used, so you called them or did it online" and i'm like "bitch, i didn't use the card in any way. and i owe the government of bc nothing, why would i pay them?!"
and he says "well it could be the government of canada and it was processed in bc."
and i'm like "fine, but i didn't use my card at all!" pretty sure i'd recall sitting home on a sunday afternoon using my card for a $6 charge to the government.
he tells me like 5 times that this charge wasn't in person, and could be the government anywhere.
i ask "so what's it for?"
"i don't know. the government."
jesus wept.
so of course i insist on talking to someone else, and dick sandwich flips me over to some guy that at least has a brain, and he's like "okay, yes, lets look at your charges and work backwards... did you refill a starbucks card this morning?"
"um, no"
"you didn't? okay, well someone did for $99.92"
it also seems that they charged $7 to some hotel website. and bought what must have been some front row tickets at ticketmaster. and so on. for a total of $1300ish since sunday. christ on a cross.
of course the charges are all being reversed, and they're sending me another card [which, note to self: call rogers and have automatic billing changed], but it's all just such a hassle. not to mention that i'll have a new card to memorize.
oh, and what REALLY bothers me, was when the gent on the phone said "okay, so these were all entered manually... oh, one online... oh wait, that was swiped", meaning that they actaully made a copy of my card. i don't know how that makes it worse, but somehow it does.
i'm so thankful that i decided to troll on over to my credit card statement on a whim today. nip this in the bud, asshole credit card thief. i hope you choke on uncircumsized dick.

What a douche on that first guy. Credit card theft is serious stuff. Happened to my mom twice. Glad you caught it though.

I'm glad you caught it early and that it's being taken care of. Still super annoying!

Whoa! What a total PAIR of assholes! Not just the thief but the first douchnozzle on the phone. Here's hoping that the next time the thief tries to use their little fake card, there's a cop there waiting. I can't imagine the government is particularly happy about having THAT charge revoked.

Whoa. The first guy should get fired, I hope you complained. But at least this is all solved.

I hate when this crap happens! It hasn't happened to me *knock on wood* but my husband went through it. It's a total pain.

This happened to my parents and teh company called them ASAP and was like "uh hi, did you use your card ______ and __________ for x amount of money"

when i lived in northern ontario, and the closest place to shop was in winnipeg, i had my card cut off by visa not once but twice, because apparently spending money (like $100?) in another province raised flags. meanwhile a spending spree in 3 days isn't?! i so don't understand.

Its REALLY weird.
Especially on things like a hotel, ticketmaster, starbucks? like wtf

ugh, Ange. I'm SO glad you caught it right away. What good fortune. And also that visa weren't dicks about it.

And I hope they find him. It doesn't seem like it would be hard--The BC charge and the starbucks card can probably be linked to someone...right?

That is awful. I'm glad you ended up talking to someone who actually had a brain! I usually check my card statements frequently because of these types of situations.

and you could find the fuckers at the event and seat they bought for ticketmaster maybe.
LOL...uncircumsized dick !!

"jesus wept" <3

... i had to get a new debit card yesterday because i lost my old one. and the worst part (i waited in line for 40 mins to get served at the bank at 4pm when i had a nail apt at 5, a 15 min drive down the highway that i wanted to change before) was the fact that i'd have to learn a new number. :/
